I think they also might try to claw someone's eyes out if someone was really in danger

Not so appealing to your sociable spirit.
I wonder if age is a factor. Juvenile characteristics are common to all mammals and play persists through life. If an adult cat in an adult mood clawed at my legs seemingly for lack of attention I would be just as inclined to think he was sharpening his claws on what he thought might be an object of interest that turned out to be not very interesting.

I heard they were profoundly territorial but with their naturally bobbed tails their communication skills might be more diverse than swishing of the tail and hissing.

My petite female Manx used to chase dogs down the street. I mean big dogs. She would attack on sight, go right for the eyes. She was brutally mauled as a kitten by a big german shepard, was in a half body cast for 6 weeks and she never forgot it. It was actually a problem where I had to sometimes warn people walking their dogs to stay away from my block. Sita was like a heat-seeking missile to big dogs. little dogs apparently weren't worth her time lol

One girl with her poor sweet golden retreiver didn't understand and said
"what?, my dogs not going to do anything to your cat!" just about that time here comes Sita.. I tried to get between them but Sita was too fast. The girl freaked out and ended up kicking my cat right in the ribs. :(
Sita was my best cat ever.

Oh, no! When your cat got kicked...did she die? :(

One of my pugs got loose once and ran towards a lady with another dog. She kicked my pug....like a mean bitch. I apologized to her for my dog getting loose, but was upset,,,,and she found me later to apologize for kicking my dog...Another time...my Champy old pug got loose, and ran up to a jerk with 2 Siberian huskies...One of the huskies bit off part of Champy's ear. The guy was not apologetic or anything. I see him every day, no matter what time I leave here,...never avoiding us, but almost sadistically waiting for another one of my pugs to escape. I screamed out sadist/masochist to him one day. I was so angry...and he is.

naw they only clawed if all the rubbing and purring didn't get your attention.

My little Sita had a kinked stubby tail that she could twirl in circles when she was feeling mischievous.
Once a neighbor who happened to be Hispanic/catholic told me my cat was giving her the 'stink eye' lol I knew exactly what she meant.

Has anyone ever known of a pug that did attack? Having lived with pugs, I'd say it's the breed to be least fearful of. They're very lovable and I think even if they wanted to bite, they really can't because of the way their mouth and snout are shaped. I guess all dogs become ferocious when they see a mailman though and my mom's pug was barking at the mailman through the fenced yard. Her mailbox is outside of the yard and the mailman still sprayed the pug with pepper spray....... f'ing wanker.

Pugs cannot do damage to a person really....and that woman was a bitch., She should have just whisked her small dog into her arms if she saw a pug come charging like that and she was afraid. I would have....and she was not being protective. She was being f'in mean. Pepper spray. What an A'hole.

and this creep with the Siberian huskies....I tried to make friends with his wife and him, when i first saw them when I first moved here...and he is a retired dentist. i read a book.....about how some doctors and dentists go into their profession because they like to see pain. This one fit the build, as all he could say to me in the beginning was my dog could kill your dogs and your cats. WTH!

Oh, and the book was by Desmond Morris. love all of his books.

I understand. Some cats do live in groups with a very defined hierarchy.
Both domestic cats and dogs are selectively bred to enhance characteristics deemed appealing to humans. Affection is a familial exercise between parents children co-creationists and friends and at this level all mammals are social and our selection of friends or tolerance for others can be unique.

    She had superstitious beliefs?

I do believe their sociability was mostly a product of upbringing. They got a lot of attention since they were born and throughout their whole lives.

    Exactly lol

What I said before about cat having paws they can use like hands, but dogs don't made me feel badly. I feel so badly for animals that do not have hands to reach out with...They have their noses and teeth and tongues. I even feel sorrier for hooved creatures....

Happiness was seeing elephants paint pictures with their trunks....I love elephants, too. I know what the hell does this have to do with anything? I don't know!

Been crying cuz I miss Lucky...I want to find his photo and show you him here. He had cattitde!
