  2. "All People have a right to apply to enter the USA, to visit, to work, to live, or to ask for help! " I simply fail to see how this is a "right" at all. Nor do I see this as any sort of function of International Law.

It's a legal right because it's based on the laws and statutes of both international and Unites States law.

Do you ascribe to the rule of law?

Obviously there's no open borders law requiring countries to let just anybody in. There are protections for refugees seeking asylum. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Art 14, provides that (e)veryone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution. Refugee is defined by the UN 1951 Convention and 1967 Protocols on the Status of Refugees, which the U.S. adopted in 1968 and incorporated into the Refugee Act of 1980, providing the legal basis for the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). Those, and the Flores v. Reno (1997) settlement agreement governing treatment of immigrant children provide the basis for limited refugee rights. One issue is who qualifies as a "refugee". U.S. law, based on the UN Convention, requires a “well-founded fear of persecution” due to race, membership in a particular social group, political opinion, religion, or national origin. The current batch of refugees from Central America are fleeing horrendous conditions of gang violence which nevertheless may not qualify as persecution. All they have a right to is impartial adjudication of their claims based on the law, and humane treatment while their status is being determined. As far as general immigration is concerned, in 1965 the U.S abandoned its previous restrictive policy favoring northern Europeans in favor of a more open policy eliminating national origin, race, and ancestry as basis for immigration. I think a new comprehensive immigration law is needed to deal with the problem of illegal immigrants already in the country, especially the DACA residents. Unfortunately, politicians have an interest in keeping the issue unsettled for partisan purposes.

The migrants say the want buses to make the rest of the trip.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Central American migrants in a caravan that has stopped in Mexico City demanded buses Thursday to take them to the U.S. border, saying it is too cold and dangerous to continue walking and hitchhiking.

Mexico City authorities say that of the 4,841 registered migrants receiving shelter in a sports complex, 1,726 are under the age of 18, including 310 children under five.

“We need buses to continue travelling,” said Milton Benitez, a caravan coordinator. Benitez noted that It would be colder in northern Mexico and it wasn’t safe for the migrants to continue along highways, where drug cartels frequently operate. How cute, its like children believing in Santa Claus

    From Wikipedia:

That Ceiling 2018 is 45,000. over the last 10 years only about 3 to 6% of that figure has been from Latin America and the Caribbean...so some years as little as 1500 from that region

As for getting in the front door, legally, you need something like a million US dollars in assets to get a residency visa

I don't understand what your point is about the number of immigrates permitted each year. We know this.

According to your figures they brought in $69,920 million dollars in 2015 just by crossing the border. Pretty good for the U.S. I'd say.

    Did I misunderstand you?
In 2015 we admitted 69,920 refugees.

1 million dollars in assets for each residency visa x 69,920 refugees = $69,920 million dollars.

I don't really know what you meant, but that's what I understood.

I don't know what this has to do with the refugees' caravan or where you're getting your numbers but according to Homeland Security there were 574,855.17 lawful new arrivals in the U.S. in 2017. (The 51% new arrivals of 1,127,167 new lawful permanent residents.)

    574,855.17 x 1,000,000 = $574, 855,170,000
or Five hundred seventy-four Billion, eight hundred fifty-five million, one hundred seventy thousand, dollars.
If I did the math right.

But again I don't know what this has to do with the caravan.

    Well it was your tangent

But, no the million dollar thing was citizenship, being able to own land, was just going from memory sorry, not residency, cant be bothered googling current requirements

Anyhoo, back to refugees, UN stuff means nothing, your country has a refugee quota, Trumped halved it, but curiously increased the ratio from Africa, so he does love black people. 1500 is your quota for Latin America this year, so if the caravan does get in, because of the press it generates, no one else from the region will, and no one will probably notice that

Dont you think its strange the Dems havent really been going on about him cutting the refugee quota?.......is almost as if they know it wouldnt be a big vote winner and they only care about their agenda

I didn't know that he cut the refugee quota.... I do think it's strange that no one has mentioned it much, if they have at all. I haven't heard about it.
