Everyone thinks their intuition is correct

But there arent multiple truths, there is only one truth and it must be comprised of verifiable facts. Without verifiable facts you are just shaping your world view based on how you feel it is, not how it actually is

I think we should let them all matriculate into the United States; not illegally, but legally. It's hard to know how to feel because what is reported in the media makes it sound like all we have to go on is these peoples' word that they are fleeing danger. But I think there are ways to check and see. Maybe a police report here and there (if there is such a thing in those countries...) will substantiate the claim that their lives are in danger. I think there are other reasons for granting asylum too. They may be poverty stricken. I saw a man who was interviewed who was able to eloquently refute the ideology that there was anything criminal about what they were doing. He wanted to work!

I'm not talking philosophy or religion here where multiple truths versus one truth are of course debatable concepts. I'm talking about a current event that is only going to unfold one way, that is, the way it has actually unfolded, in reality, in real time. And it is a pretty bold and arrogant assertion to claim one knows exactly how it has unfolded based on...nothing. No sources, no proof, just a feeling

    That is true.

I think they should still be allowed to come here. I just don't see denying them entry. Of course there's a waiting or processing period and I don't know where families are kept during that.

Many of us who were born in a country like the US, it's all just luck. Luck where you're born. Luck if you end up with a good mom and dad, or not. Luck if you end up in wealth, or poverty. Luck if you find yourself fleeing to a better land, or living in privilege. I've grown up privileged. I know what it's like, and I know...it's all just luck. I'm grateful for all I have, and I think we think that somehow we deserve this, and others who weren't born here, don't. But, it's easy to say all that on this side of the ''wall.''

That said, I would like to see less illegal immigration, and more progress made towards legal immigration. Save the money for the wall, and legalize people interested in becoming citizens.

Well, that's my political rant for the day.

I don't think anyone is orchestrating this, not without some kind of credible evidence. If, hypothetically, it were 'The Democrats' doing the orchestrating it'll backfire in a big way. No matter the cause of this 'mass migration' (of 7,000) the Republicans are going to get a boost from it on election day.

To be fair, there are also many instances where verifiable facts aren't available.

This is a case where nobody has many facts yet, and it corresponds with a volatile issue starting almost to the day early voting begins. I don't particularly believe this is a conspiracy, but it's the perfect storm for a conspiracy theory to brew.

I think questioning whether we're getting the full story from the media is perfectly natural, its the making up one's own answers to their questions (or taking them from presidential tweets in this case) that bothers me lol

The caravans have been going on for about 20 years. In the early 2000s a group called Pueblo Sin Fronteras, Village without Borders, led by Irineo Mujica began providing legal council and building shelters for the trek. They have been doing so for about 15 years.
Mujica was arrested a few days ago.
Traditionally the caravans set out on Holy Week (the final week of Lent). The latest caravan arose spontaneously when 160 people started off from Honduras.
Bartolo Fuentes then joined it. Irineo Mujico did not initially support it, but since then Pueblo Sin Fronteras has offered solidarity.
