No, the Unicorns are from Montreal.
I like a band called SIANspheric, I think they are from the GTA.
Hayden is the shit. So are the Hip. According to Don Cherry, theyre the best band in the world. Not an exaggeration.

    Peace

i used to have a sianspheric album that i loved so much... stupid house fire..

i saw hawksley workman open solo for the violent femmes - his performance was so damn strange people didnt know whether to cheer or boo - but his guitar playing was freakin GOOD. then i went to closing night at the republiK - that was a good day...

has anyone heard yesterdays kids? they're on treetop films "fourplay" soundtrack. i like their style. that whole vid has got awesome music on it. actually, all their vids have cutting edge stuff on them.

Yes the Unicorns are originally from Vancouver Island, but they were later based in Montreal -- i say "were" because they've recently disbanded.

No one mentioned Leonard Cohen yet, so i will.
Some other good ones that haven't been mentioned:

    The Constantines
    The Joel Plaskett Emergency
    The Intesteens
    Form One

yesss.. Megan Lane is fucking amazing. I must go hunt down her cd. There's another really good blues artist here in Stoon, a bit older... Jordan something.

I really like the Tea Party too... didnt' know they were Canadian though, heh. Avril, well, some of her songs are decent, but I'm not actually willing to actually spend money to listen to any of her stuff.

I knew her name was Megan Lane... i am friends with her older sister Jen and her brother Jermey (both are also very talented musicans). I just didn't think anyone else really knew about her, as I usually saw her is seedy, dingy club basements. lol.

It's Jordon Cook that you are thinking of Ihmurria... he went over to the UK and was taught by/played with Van Morrison, or so the rumour goes.

I'd say we should be fairly proud of Skinny Puppy. Pioneers in industrial music. They helped develop the macine-esque sound, and really influenced alot of the bigger bands.

But, yeah, Canadian music is kinda sad.....

Kid Koala does rock. i didnt even know he was canadian. Another Sakatoon band, The Cracker Cats. Three beautiful girls with a guitar and banjo and a mandolin. Great harmonies. The lead singer is the daughter of the singer of Crooked Creek who youd know of if youve ever been to a Ness Creek, aah sweet happy-ness. Also I might add they are friends of mine, Especially the banjo player. Ahh saskatoon What a great place. I am never there anymore save for xmas, but I´ll always love it.
