yes it will happen again. As long as there are open minded people and an evil goverment it could happen. The thing is you need something to kick it off.... like music or a horrible event....
i live in london, and on the evidence of the metality of most people around here. i'd say the 60s will never be able to happen again. especially to the extent that it happened in the 60s. almost all youngsters around here take on a "gangsta" mentality. we may get a mini hippie movement in protest of the war, etc but it'll never be the same. especially when you take into consideration how much crime has risen that it'll just never be as "safe" as the 60s. i would love it to be the 60s again and fair enough we wont have all these petty material things, but im guessing, like me, the 60s/70s is the era most of us on this site are most naturally drawn to as it symbolizes the mentality we have. maybe in the future something similar will happen but with the route the world seems to be taking atm, i dont see it as being likely. especially to the same scale as the 60s. which is a damm shame. peace
It won't happen until all of the people wake up one day and realize they are owned like slaves. Many are owned now, and do not even realize it... Media, Pharmaceutical Corporations, Church, State, National ID card, Mandatory DNA sampling, Women's Choices, ....etc etc It won't be like the sixties. The outrage will come, but there will be far more sophisticated technologies to fight this time. If people do not gather up the way they did back then, and get heavily into activism it may be too late when they finally do. Kent State shootings are a fine example of what can happen again, except this time I don't think this administration would have an issue with gunning down american citizens who step out of line in the future, if we continue down this path. jmho
Personally, I think it's up to ppl like us to teach others... I mean, look at Christianity. For the first 200 years or so Christians were persecuted, killed and ignored. There were only a handful of ppl who passed on their knowledge and eventually it caught on. And when it did, it spread like wildfire. Obviously, we would be up to bigger challenges today with all the 'sophisticated technologies' but think back again to early history when the romans were around. I'm sure THEY seemed like an unoposable force. True, maybe the 60's mentality is gone, but there is always room for something new and better...
At the end of WWII, patriotic fervor was at an all-time high and it would have been impossible to imagine such a huge counterculture movement ever arising in America. And yet it rose up a mere 20 years later! There's always the chance it could happen again, no matter what current conditions are like.
Have fun with the goverment and fast computers = remember you no longer have a private life. right now only your bedroom is semi safe = not for long either. ............optic cable.
hm...well most of us are still young and anything can happen. atleast being here and posting in this forum has got us thinking about a movement. eventually things will change. maybe the draft will be reinstated and the war will drain the economy even more...things will change. we'll just have to keep standing up for ourselves and do what we do.
U can never go back -- but can go forward. CAn it happen again? No, and yes. It will never be exactly the same. The world is no longer exactly the same. Take what u learned from it then, and what u've learned from the world now, mix it all together and focus on the positive. U and others CAN make THAT happen. Walk lightly on the earth, grow ur own food in tune with nature and the elements, or get into art or something unique thats a fit just for u. Share with others, share love and kindness. this is the way to recreate it for the now.[/COLOR]
hey dope sick child, i here u on bringin the 60s back man we need to revive the old hippie spirit man im 16 i missed it to so man we need to get people to be more hip man
Maybe we should just accept that "bringing the 60s back" is not going to happen. The proof is in the large amount of talk but distinct lack of action. But what about these forums? This place is as close to the 60s as we're going to get, I believe. And until things move from out of the cyber world and into reality (which I very much doubt they will), this small pocket of hippiedom may be as good as it's going to get.
It may, but with time. The more screwed up stuff gets, the greater the probability of it happening. It already is, but not as one huge public movement. Plenty of little groups, protesters, protest websites, weed becoming more and more popular... it's almost as big, it's just so spread out that no one really notices it.
