Yeah, agreed, communism is so ridiculously lame that i have a hard time understanding how someone in the 21st century still thinks it could work. :xmastree:
well there is a whole lot of way crazier yet successful stuff for morons and lamebrains still around , like christianism to say one, or think to Obama who capitalized on pacifism, now advocates war and still has supporters... there is space for everybody on this world, man , what did you suffer from the communist to hate them so much? they attempted to make a shish-kebab of you maybe? butt-raped your ass? punched your momma in the boobs? happy christmas Pollo. :coffee:
Your attitude is the reason why Communism wouldn't work. You're assuming that if you remove financial incentives from the equation, then there would be no reason for anyone to do anything. This is so cynical and backwards that I'm amazed it was even said. Med School under communism would be FREE-- just like it was in the Soviet Union. You wouldn't have to be from a rich background in order to get an 'upper class' job. Contrary to what you seem to believe, not everyone in the world would rather be doing nothing, and not every doctor out there is only in it for the money. Some people actually derive real satisfaction from the job itself. Teachers, doctors, therapists, police officers... not all, but most of them are doing what they're doing because they genuinely want to do it... because it feels worthwhile to help others. If anything, under communism more people would be educated, and more people would be doing more worthwhile things with their lives... because they're no longer being forced to do what they can to survive.
ditto ! capitalism fans assume that either people is allowed to get filthy rich like murdoch or berlusconi and exploit/kill people and ruin their lives for his own criminal profit or no one will bother doing shit and just live off the Great Commune Cauldron. i think that between Pol Pot and Scrooge there must be a more reasonable formula, a way to fully reward and encourage the best ones without having to surrender the means of production in their hands. and i must, i have to hope that mankind is better and with greater margins of self improvement, discipline and love than the cronies of capitalism made us think so far. happy Sol Invictus'day all
Cynicism and realism are not the same thing. I never said everyone in the world, from the people I have met I would have a hard time beleiving they would work well in a communist society. they're too consumed with how muhc they et and how they appear to everyone else, financially or otherwise. Most teachers I know entered their profession because teaching offers a big and steadily increasing pay scale straight out of university, few do it for a calling in my experience. Police officers are the same. I'm not generalizing and realize people DO do it as a vocation, i'm simply stating it from my own experience. In theory, communism works, but that's the only place it works. Now. Maybe after we've been through globalization people will be ready for it. At the moment they're not, to claim these views are cynical and not realistic if foolishnes.
I think the true communism would be successful in a way. If everyone was truely equal then we wouldn't have to worry about some idiot in government telling us lies and stealing our money. Ex. Harper is a huge idiot really wish he'd step down.
Communism can never work for the same reason everyone here will spend most of the extra funds in their next paycheck on themselves vs giving it to the victims in Haiti. People are greedy, we always want more.
Wow, good answer common sense. Pure, totalitarian communism might be as bad as totalitarian Corporate-State Capitailism. The extreme versions end up at the same place. Maybe? And anyways, hasn't communism only been around a fraction of the time capitalism has?
Yes, the problem is that most communist states have gone straight into it from a feudal monarchist system. People need to go through capitalism before they're ready for communism. Perhaps globalization will make them ready for it.
The question 'can communism work?' is an important one, but it must be followed by the question 'should communism work?' It seems to me that communism is a direct violation of individual freedoms -- even if it could work (a big 'if'), I see it as no better than fascism.
Communism can be made to exist alongside personal freedoms to a great extent I think. Of course I dont think we've really seen a good example of a government following it's own doctrines closely enough to say for sure which would be more feasible. All systems have been corrupted by greed, our's included. I think Leaders and Law makers should be socialist, but the outer framework a democratic or Communist one. For the Communist outer frame to function however, we would need to convert the masses of slackasses into productive and motivated individuals. If that were possible I'd think that that society would be a far greater one than the Roman or American empires could ever hope to be.
Probably pretty easy to convert "slack-asses if they spent their time making little rocks out of big rocks for a few months.
Under a communist system private business is outlawed and everyone is assigned work by the state. The state also decides how much compensation an individual is entitled to for their work. There is zero freedom under that system. You do what you're told or you starve because you're not allowed to feed yourself except on the state's terms. How is personal freedom preserved under such a system? Are you sure you're not thinking of socialism?
^ Actually that above would socialism. Communism has never happened, because it can't, and people who think it somehow can are fucking idiots who are completely unpragmatic
That's basically the system as described by Marx, to my knowledge. Is Marxism considered socialism now?
Communist are like conspiracy theorists, they lack any common sense or pragmatism and live in a world that never has and never will exist, so it's impossible to sway them anyways.
Communism can work. But it wont. None of the governments in place(aside form Cuba) can be refrenced because although they claim Marxist: THEY ARE NOT. Marx, although a genius, did not lay out a specific economic system, in fact, his theory is little more than a paper. Read it, you'll be suprised to what you find. If it were to work, it must be added upon.
