Canucker, and people like him is the perfect example why communism isn't working. In order to support capitalism, you have to have a rich and a poor. The amount of resources it takes to support cities and rich lifestyles is very wasteful.
egalitarian social organization can, does, and has worked. just not at its best in forms resembling those advocated by carl marx. then again i wouldn't exactly call them communism, which is such an inanely ambiguous term anyway. more like eco-socialist anarcho-pacifism or something. but really any name, even the idea of idiology being central to it is the obstical. i mean pin a name on anything and someone's going to get fanatical about it and getting fanatical about it, screw it up. capitolism isn't immune to that either. to say THAT is "working" either, is rather a stretch of it. "Exactly! The issue is a hell of a lot deeper than what economic theory works best (though i find capitalism to be the more evil)." i aggree with how shane put it on that, my point and my aggreement exactly. =^^= .../\...
Who's to say non-existing? I personally wouldn't mind to make the same as everyone else - It would make life so much simpler. Who's saying perfect, anyway.
Try having a family to support and saying that. Do you think that your family would want that 'freedom'? No, most people want things to be stable, and to know they're provided for if something goes wrong. Uhhh... how about having less money than some rich, upper class, drug-addicted pedophile on a trust fund? Or a drug dealer, or a child pornographer? Or someone who plays sports for a living? Or some politician that tells everyone what to do? Or one of the Baldwins? And why should the fact that you defend drug dealers for a living make you more important than someone who slaves away on a fishing boat in a third world country for less than 2 dollars a day? Why does a doctor make more than someone at MacDonald's... even if they both work as hard as they can? Why are fashion designers respected more than waitresses? Believing that one job is somehow more important than any other is the same thing as believing that you'll go to heaven if you do what your church tells you... ie: centuries of conditioning have led the majority to believe it.
Heywood makes some great points. I would much rather have stability. Jobs like becoming a doctor is much harder than becoming a waitress, because it takes years before someone can become a doctor. But, I know what you mean. If you don't like the hard work, then... well... maybe you shouldn't be a doctor. The less people that become something just for the money, the better. People should just go for the job that they genuinely enjoy. I have a friend that works at NASA, and he suggested to me that success is to obtain wealth, status, achieving something very difficult, and whatnot. I told him that success is to become happy with what you are doing, and where you are in life, to be content with life. He told me that I was wrong. Success is subjective. If everyone had the job that they loved doing, instead of a job they do to gain economic superiority, people would be a lot happier. Listen, not everyone is going to want such economic superiority. Some peoples life goals are inherently less economically successful than others. Should these people, with their life's goals, have a less stable economic life than someone else that has chosen a goal that is more economically stable? Should these people be punished for having different dreams than everyone else? I also explained to my friend that being a sanitation worker is a tough job. And it may not require a great amount of training, but the amount of labor being done is equal to that of his job at NASA. My friend just turned around and told me, "Being a sanitation worker, and jobs like it, are reserved for those that don't go after success". When he said that, I had a clear view of what most people in society believe success to be, and it was at this moment that I understood that there is nothing wrong with the system of communism itself, nor is anything inherently wrong with people. What is wrong, however, is all the shit that society regurgitates to one another. What is wrong is peoples blind faith in obscene ideas of success. What is wrong is feeling superior to someone else just because your life's goals may require more time and energy to achieve, without first realizing that people may simply just have different goals in mind; and this has nothing to do with laziness it just is. I end this by saying: Get off your high horses; Your life's goals doesn't entitle you to a better life than someone else simply because you think it should; Your goals aren't somehow 'bigger', or more important than anyone else's.
Travel Channel Documentary: Michael Pelin traveling through Romania asked his host, 'What is different today in Romania versus yesterday during the Communist regime?' Romanian host replied, ' Yesterday during Communism we used to have money but no passports, today in capitalism we have passaports but no money.'
Anarcho-communism works, regular communism does not. This is because where there is an unelected leader, there is a power struggle, and where there is a power struggle, the most powerful will take over. Only through not having a leader (though whether this is possible or not is a matter for contention, though you could say in a way that a lot of ancient civilizations (in particular Ancient Greece) had a form of democratic-communism)
Communism can work.. but everyone in the communist system must be happy with it and not want any more than they get or at least treat everyone equally, including the leader. It's an amazing theory but in practicality it won't work unless EVERYONE helps out.
communism cannot work because they use fear as the easiest way to frighten the population and gain control but yet again not only communist do this...?
Oh hell no! COMMIES WILL BURN MAN! I can only hope that was a joke!, Communism has been given a bad name in the Western world, Our government makes out Communism to be an evil and power hungry ideology which can NEVER work, I do not contradict the fact that nations under Communist rule have undergone much bloodshed and injustice over the years but argue that the concept of the idealogy WAS good!, The foundations of Communism is a government based around the working class and a sharing of the wealth of a nation amongst the common people. Leaders such as Stalin and Chairman Mao have given Communism a bad name and why not? these leaders where two of the most notorious Communist leaders of all time and were responsible for MILLIONS of deaths, However the thought that Communism is totally evil, doesn't work and needs to be destroyed sickens me, People from countries who have been under the Communist regime had NOTHING and needed food and healthcare like the rest of us, its easy for people in MEDC's living comfortable lives to criticise Communism, that in truth know nothing of poverty and hard living! But I think the chief reason for this Communist hating world is ignorance, The Western (Capitalist) world have used a form of propaganda to try and make us believe Communism is wrong and cannot work this is all because they want Pro-Capitalist's and fear a changing of government! I do not Condone Communism, but challenge anyone who believes "Communism is wrong" one question is Capitalism, a government in which wealth is concentrated into a very small portion of a nation, in which Corruptness is promoted and poverty will always remain so much better than Communism?
If you know the stages along the road to communism, you know that communism can be achieved only through oppression, but it cannot be sustained. And if you know your history you know that communism has NEVER been achieved.
Do you ever pretend to see in your mind what that type of system might look like today if we had adapted our culture from the First Nations people?
