Neither Capitalism nor Communism can truely "work" for human beings. They are both extensions of the pathological drive toward Industrial-Technological induced annihilation. Stop looking for a system to fix you.
I like the word fix you. Drugs, pornography, television, psychotherapy, school....HEY DAD, LOOK AT ME, I'M FIXED! I FIT IN! By the way, the little one is cute. I hope he brings much joy!
Exactly! The issue is a hell of a lot deeper than what economic theory works best (though i find capitalism to be the more evil). Centuries of psychological and behavioral conditioning are the real oppessors. And yeah he is cute and does bring joy!
Communism can never work, and God help us if it does. The reason is very, very simple. Communism involves a small group of elite people, who dictate what the behavior of all the people it governs must be. There is no free will or choice. There is no freedom. No hippies, no rebelion, no questioning the government. Who is watching out that the government is honest? The answer is a system of fear where each citizen watches his/her neighbor and reports any "unusual" behavior that would supposedly upset the system. Communism thrives on control, and has a history of abuse and murder of the people whom it strives to help. It supposes that people are infinitely moldable. Communism is just bad.
communism can work if u get the right head to start it. in the begining. then yeah, just let the people go with the "river". and itll work. just need to find the one brilliant man, who isnt in to it for the power, just the people.
Communism can never work. It was just a theory, it failed completely, time to move on. Why dwell some discredited ideology from another century?
and what makes all you skeptics such experts on human nature? the only excersives in communism have been authoritarian bullshit illusions.
Life? and being human? You can't ensure communist style rules are followed on a large scale without strict authority.
With jealousy, greed and hunger for power being such a part of human nature, no. It has, though, worked in a small group. I'd love to join a commune someday.
Communism can succeed-- through a revised education system. Basically, we need to emphasize the importance of society and de-emphasize the acquisition of material wealth. I mean, as it is, people care only about studying as much as will help them to land a decent job-- ensuring them a space in the ruling class... which usually means the middle middle class. We are taught to do only as much as we need to, and not how to develop as human beings... We need to make room in the education system for clearer thinking and better communication-- we need to challenge kids more. We need to revise the media so it stops promoting STUPIDITY. We need to de-emphasize the importance of image and emphasize spiritual, moral, and intellectual growth. We need to make more room for creativity and abstract thought. We need to make the education more intensive, but leave enough room for play... basically, we need to find out what these kids can do and what they're capable of, and try to nurture that as much as we can... through the media and through classroom activities, sports programs, etc. Honestly, what passes for education nowadays is pathetic!!!! And being distracted because you're worried about stupid, unimportant things like the way you look or the fact that the world's going to explode is inexcusable. The media could be educating-- but instead it's being used as yet another tool to exploit, opiate, and subdue the people...
What happens to someone like me under a communist system? I'm a free thinker that gives 110% at everything I do and I try to stay away from society. I also attempt to rise above everyone else. Do I get deported, thrown in a gulag or executed?
You get a better education--so you will actually know more about what communism really is before you make comments like that. I have no idea how you can refer to yourself as a free thinker and then regurgitate the same old right wing cliches. When you say 'rise above everyone else', do you mean poor people, blacks, latinos, women or homosexuals?
No, I mean achiving the most that I can. I am an achiver. I used to be poor, but I got tired of it and starting working really and going to school to better myself. Some would say I'm lucky to be where I am now, but I worked for years to get where I am and stay there. What does race have to do with it also, I've worked for women, blacks, latinos and homosexuals that where all multimillionaires. I'm not that much of a materalist but I do have a dream of owning a farm. That takes a substantal investment, therefore I have to work harder than the people that just want mcmansions, SUV's and wide screen tv's.
it only really works in small groups...if it was set up in a similar way to the kibbutz system in israel with groups of around 30 people working and distributing the money equally amongst the group then there is every possibility...
^ You should check my 'Realities Of Collectivism" thread. The Kibbutz system is becoming more market oriented because they are experiancing similar problems with collectivism that others have.
It can, maybe for a period of time. It did work for sometime here in Romania, but then they rebelled against this regime. It had many flaws, it was unjust in some ways, yet in other ways life was better then than now. The perfect regime is hard to design and apply.
No. No. No. Failed so many times. Capitalism with socialist services softening the edges, is what has worked best in our societies. I don't even consider a perfectly-working Communist "utopia". I want the ability to fall to rock bottom, but then have the opportunity to climb back up the economic latter. Its freedom. Communism takes so much economic freedom away. I don't want to be equal to some low-life drug addicted, pedophile in terms of economic wealth. NO! Capitalism all the way baby.
Oh and look at the advancement of our society....ITS COME FROM CAPITALISM! Cars, computers, technology, etc. etc. etc. has come from the drive to create efficient products to sell for cash. Look how far we have advanced ourselves in the last 100 years of capitalism!
