Can anyone give me one piece of SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN evidence that dread wax fails?

I know the thread needs to die, but on more teency lil comment: the only person who can prove anything to you is YOU. Only YOU can decide when something is proven (and IMO, nothing is). What is it that people trust so much about arrogant scientists who think they are the purveyors of the almighty truth? Sounds a lot like religion to me...

I know I sound like a bitch, but the whole "science is PROOF" thing really grinds my gears. But itsall good:D

Ahhh the paradoxes though... I guess this is only what I have decided for me, so for others, I guess the science thing works fine.

Its like telling someone to think for themself and them going "No! You know what? Fuck right off! I don't think I will!"

I don't follow science like a religion, but I do believe that the methods it enforces are there to try and get the most reliable, accurate and truthful answers out of a subject/topic/whatever (more so then religion some might argue =P )

And also when I say science I don't mean some guy with full qualifications taking time off from NASA just to look at dreads =P
If I saw some evidence from anyone on this forum that was carried out in a scientific way then i'd take that as scientific evidence (not saying I'd believe it, depends how the whole thing was carried out).

So far though there really is no scientific evidence on this thread that I could follow/believe in.... There is the video of that woman with one waxed dread, one un-waxed but in all honestly the video was such bad quality to me both dreads looked pretty much the same xD
So y'know, Close but no cigar xD

I had my last set of dreads for three years, and the first month of having them i used wax from knottyboy. When i cut them to make new ones, there were still fatty shit wax in the middle of them. They had stayed stikcky for three years and the stickyness gathered dirt. when i played with them with my hands i had to wash my hands with soap. Now i made new ones wax free and its a big difference. the old ones were beautiful but my new ones are too and much much cleaner and they have matured muc faster. My advise is to stay away from wax. definately.

I did read your post and I decided that it also didn't really highlight any real problems with wax.....

It told us that we cannot liquidize wax in our hair, but wax does become less viscous as temperature rises... so theres no reason why a Hot shower will not make more wax come out of your hair then a cold shower will.
I'll agree that if you decided wax was not for you the fact that it does not truly melt until a high temperature is a problem.... but its not a reason why wax wouldnt work.

Once again, I'm not sold on anything till I see real scientific evidence relating to wax...
But people like you have to go as low as to insult me just for not agreeing with you xD You are the idiot, not me.... Maybe you should read some of my posts in this thread?

I always get a kick out of the arguements on there. They start out with an insult and then the insulted one insults the insulter all while claiming that insulting someone is a horrid crime.

    ....insult.

And you've proven you're an idiot throughout this entire thread. WAX FTW rofl </sarcasm>

If you guys are so hell bent on using wax, then why even ask for anyone to prove the negative points of using it? This thread was nothing but trolling to begin with and you're just further trolling in it. You don't want evidence because even when you get it, you just ignore it. If you have your mind made up, then don't ask for anything, just use the shit and be done with it.

BTW, wax doesn't get "less viscous" at higher temperatures... nice bullshitting though.

Have you read my other posts? I've said a couple of times that i'm neither for or against wax.... In fact when I did my dreads I opted to not use wax, it feels gross but thats not to say it doesn't help dreads.... and until someone PROVES it i'll believe that there could be a grain of truth in it. Thousands of people do not buy a product just because Johnny Clean told them too.

You gave evidence. But what does your evidence actually tell us? It tells us that Wax will not come out of your hair easily. It DOES NOT tell us that wax doesn't work though.

Also, Wax does become less viscous at higher temperatures, put some in your hand and it will become less solid... Maybe I'm using the wrong words here but you cant argue that wax changes its state pretty quickly with higher temperatures.

And also, if you think I am trolling you should take a look in a mirror. For this whole thread I've pretty calmly debated the different points of 'pro wax' vs. 'natural' and all you have done is stamp around like an angry child because I've debated your evidence.

I actually already gave an answer that should probably have ended this thread before.... but you obviously didn't read it

No, but thousands of people will buy a product when they think that they "need" it. I think that's pretty obvious not only with dreads but with consumerism in general.

Wax remains "solid" until it melts. It doesn't matter how much "less solid" it may be, it's not coming out of hair unless it liquidizes. Anyone that has dreads knows how easy it is to get something solid caught in them and how impossible it is to get out. If you think wax becomes less solid before it melts, then please cite your sources. You're arguing for scientific evidence, but when it's provided, you dismiss it with opinion or statements that you offer with no proof. So why are you exempt from the very thing that you're asking for? Where's your scientific proof that wax DOES work? So far, the only basis I've seen for your opinion is "people wouldn't buy it if it didn't work" which is, still, just another opinion.

Now I agree that I shouldn't have responded the way that I did, but its frustrating to see someone so attached to a stance for apparently no reason at all other than the opinion that "other people are using it, so it must work".

I don't advocate wax for a reason, because I have looked at the scientific evidence, I have studied up on it, and more importantly, I've watched people use it "correctly" and still end up ruining their dreads in the long run. I've also seen people use it without messing up their dreads, but as for benefits, I've seen none. So my question is "why use something that costs money and offers no benefits but has the chance of being detrimental in the long run" and that's the reason I feel the way that I do.

I guess, in the big picture, you and I just approach things differently. Apparently you'd be willing to spend money on something that claims to do something unless its proven that it DOESN'T work. I opt to not buy or use anything until it's proven to me that it DOES work. So... difference of approach.

Man, I still reckon the best way to settle this ... for you to get your scientific evidence that you are looking for … is re-grow your locks and be a lab rat by using wax. I think I mentioned that back on page 1, by now you could have been well on your way.

You've basicly summed up my argument there xD I never said it did or did not work, I never said I was pro wax or anti wax (personally I am actually anti wax), but what I did say is that everyone is quick to judge a product with which there is no evidence for or against. Before I judge wax I'd like to see real evidence, Since that real evidence will never exist all we can do is make our own personal decision on whether or not it works from the sources we have.

This forum might have alot of people saying wax did not work for them (hundreds, thousands? I don't know how long this place has been around xD ) but a quick internet search will also have alot of people saying wax does work.

End of the day you don't NEED wax (even johnny clean says that in one of his videos) so all we can do is spread the word and let people make there own choices
