Can anyone give me one piece of SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN evidence that dread wax fails?

I'd say an understanding that the characteristics of a study's sample limit the application of its results, or that correlation does not equal cause, is more important than either of those.

 

You kinda mushed all your data collection words into one unreadable punctuation-less sentence there. I understand your original point about the validity of some 'home studies' involving dreadlocks and bias but I still fail to understand the purpose of discarding all their conclusions. All the 'experiments' are going to have to be weighed up individually and comparison from one set of results found by one person to another set found by a second person aren't going to be identical, but it doesn't make the results void. An experiment doesn't have to be carried out in lab conditions for it to be deemed scientific, and although personally I wouldn't call all the stuff in this thread 'scientific' I would point out that its about as close as we're going to get and if anyone in this thread is expecting anything more than whats here they're naive (in my opinion).....real scientists are busying themselves with research into gravities effect on mohawks.

 

I don't think they should be discarded, just understood as being one piece of a puzzle, not some kind of billboard of truth

well if the OP actually expects legitimate(?)/real scientific proof he/she himself is either going to have to start collecting samples and start the hypothesis :cheers2: which I'd love to watch.

 

Also the question "Can anyone give me one piece of SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN evidence that dread wax fails" would surely only provide opinionated answers? someone with wax filled dreadlocks may love their hair, someone with 'natural'/product free hair may love their hair, any research into how products 'fail' would require who ever is carrying out the experiment to decide whether waxy/none waxy conditions fail or not....

Glad to see some people thinking more along the lines of what I am

But just to clarify, I don't think all of what has been said should be void, but rather its up to each person to weigh up the evidence they have been given (scientific or otherwise) and make there own decision what is best for there dreads - and that is why this whole thread is based on opinion and little else.

All i'm saying is that if there was real scientific evidence(for dreads, and not generalized to dreads), they wouldn't have to as there would be a straight Yes/no answer

besides, you can do all the experiments you want. But, if they aren't peer reviewed an backed, you aint got shit. i'd say we all have peers that have reviewed and/or done the wax experiment themselves. and the results? wax is bullshit. open your eyes. losers.
