[5:56] Those who ally themselves with GOD and His messenger, and those who believed, belong in the party of GOD; absolutely, they are the victors.

[5:57] O you who believe, do not befriend those among the recipients of previous scripture who mock and ridicule your religion, nor shall you befriend the disbelievers. You shall reverence GOD, if you are really believers.

again, it's a concept and a verse or two wouldn't be the representation of the "message"

[5:5] Today, all good food is made lawful for you. The food of the people of the scripture is lawful for you. Also, you may marry the chaste women among the believers, as well as the chaste women among the followers of previous scripture, provided you pay them their due dowries. You shall maintain chastity, not committing adultery, nor taking secret lovers. Anyone who rejects faith, all his work will be in vain, and in the Hereafter he will be with the losers.

 

How can one marry a woman if they're not friends in the first place?

Yup especially as some of the righteous people after the prophet(peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) did it since its allowed under the banner that their chaste.

 

O my goodness. Please don't be upset and tell him not to be upset either, but it *is* against Christian scripture to marry someone who isn't a Christian.

Yes, but they, according to the Koran, are still not allowed to befriend them. Which is sad, since there are many Muslims here I like.
