So are we going to get back to the original purpose of this thread ?

Libertine has indicated that he is willing to consider this. We can talk to the mod to have posting capabilities limited and point everyone to the rules.

Campbell how about you ? What do all others, here, think about this ?

The latin Vulgate is not an authority for application of naming rights.
The BUILDER of the city wall named The Golden Gate. That is where the name originates. Any future references made are made upon that historical authority, and that alone. Therefore, any prophecy about some "east gate" referr to something other than the Golden Gate. Christian confabulation deceitfully seeks to alter history so as to have ONE relic identifiable to it's jesus confabulation, even if it is a continuance of the lie.

You did not answer the question instead you attacked Christians calling us "brainwashed" Now this is going to require some of your brain power because the truth is the Golden Gate is the ONLY sealed gate on the east side, and that is why it is called the Eastern Gate.

    The Golden Gate

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Golden Gate is the oldest of the current gates in Jerusalem's Old City Walls. It was probably built in the 520s CE, as part of Justinian I's building program in Jerusalem, on top of the ruins of an earlier gate in the wall. An alternate theory holds that it was built in the later part of the 7th century by Byzantine artisans employed by the Umayyad khalifs.

In Christian literature, the gate is referred as the Golden Gate, but in Arabic it is known as the Gate of Eternal Life. Jews used to pray for mercy at the gate, hence the name Sha'ar Harachamim, the Gate of Mercy.

The gate is located in the middle of the eastern side of the Temple Mount.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. ~
Is a "consensus" driven, user input "encyclopaedia". It in no way relies upon fact, history, or evidence, but rather relies upon the input of any tom, Dick, Harry, or any Moron who has an agenda. Such as christians.
In Christian literature, the gate is referred as the Golden Gate ~
Christianity is neither an historical authority nor a reliable source, and has nothing other than hypothethis regarding the Golden Gate that they wish re-named to suit their agenda. History records the gate as The Golden Gate from construction uninterrupted through to present. The warped thought process of christianity, however, views history through a glass darkly so as to alter facts and truth.

Well, here is a nice tidbit for you JD4U and Campbell34. MrRee won't see it, but you can repost it if you like:

    From "Young's Literal Translation"
"And the honour of Jehovah hath come in unto the house, the way of the gate whose face [is] eastward. "
    Or the NKJV:
"And the glory of the LORD came into the temple by way of the gate which faces toward the east."

Some gate in some land in some book does NOT...I repeat, DOES N-O-T prove the existence of an invisible, intangible, omni-max SKY DADDY.

    No way, no how.

All this bullshit about some GATE with a porch is getting OLD.

    It's a fucking GATE, for fuck's sake!!!

    WHO GIVES A RAT'S ASS?

Now, could we ever get back to the SUBJECT at hand? The "original" subject?

All I am doing correcting an error of MrRee. He believes that the Golden Gate of Jerusalem is not "Eastern" Gate. But in fact they are one in the same. The Golden Gate is called the Eastern Gate because it faces east. Pretty simple right? Well not for MrRee. So I am TRYING to explain it for him. I just need an answer to this one question:

Which direction does the Golden Gate, in Jerusalem, face (North, South, East, West ect.)?

Your "simple" question is so because it comes from your simple mind, and I reiterate the ignoramus suggestion on the basis of the fact that you are incpable of absorbing the historical fact that the GOLDEN GATE has always been known as the GOLDEN GATE no matter what direction it faces!
The simple-mindedness of the christian assertion is staggering in it's idiocy ~ that because the GOLDEN GATE faces in the direction mentioned in a Judaic prophecy, then it must referr to an epochs later christian RE_WRITING of history. Wrong!
The GOLDEN GATE and the name it was given by it's builder and subsequent generations to the present are historical facts and truth, truth and facts that you and your christian deceivers are attempting to pervert in the name of religion.
But facts and truth are of no use to christians, are they? You choose anything ~ anything! other than truth, facts, or historical authenticity.

Now answer this question ~ what is the true historical name of the gate in question, the name it was given by it's builder, and known as ever since? No deceitful lying, now!

I am still waiting for your answer to my simple question. I will not answer anything of yours (which I will be more than happy to answer any questions you have as soon as you answer my question).

Which direction does the Golden Gate, in Jerusalem, face (North, South, East, West ect.)?

    JDFU,

Maybe MrRee has a valid (true) point about the naming of the gate and maybe you have a valid point in that the newer popular use of the term 'East Gate' by particular religions is not invalid but maybe the most important point, here, is that this "sub-debate" is not addressing the central question that this thread was initiated by - so maybe we're actually are 'off topic' ?

    Peace,

    David

True, it may be off topic of this thread but what is the central topic of the entire forum... I am defending Christiananity while other people are bashing it... if I have to go a little off topic to prove a point than so be it... I AM NOT THE ONE HOWEVER THAT IS AVOIDING THE SIMPLE QUESTION. All I ask for right now is an answer from MrRee to this question:

Which direction does the Golden Gate, in Jerusalem, face (North, South, East, West ect.)?

Also, is the Golden Gate the original name of the gate or is THAT the Christian name given to the Eastern Gate.

The Golden Gate - Gate of Mercy - Jerusalem Walls

The Golden Gate is located on the eastern side of Jerusalem's Wall. The Gate's structure is from the seventh century, which means it predates the Turkish wall which we know today. Remains of an even older gate dating to the time of the Second Temple were found.

The gate divided into two gates, both blocked today with bricks. The northern gate is called the northern gate is called the 'Gate of Grace' and the southern gate is called the 'Gate of Mercy'.

The Christian tradition marks The Golden Gate as the gate through which Christ entered Jerusalem, and that is why the gate is also names the 'Golden Gate'.That tradition also tells that this gate is where the byzantine emperor Heracles entered Jerusalem after freeing it from the Persians during the 7th century (a short while before the city was taken by Muslims).

The Jewish tradition tells that The Golden Gate is the gate through which the Messiah will enter Jerusalem, bringing the Jewish nation to redemption. The emperor Suleiman, who heard this tradition, decided to prevent the arrival of the Messiah by blocking the gate with bricks, and by building a Muslim cemetery in front of the gate (the Messiahs is a Cohen, so he can not enter a cemetery...).

Today the gate's structure houses a Muslim prayer and study hall. Entrance to the gate is from the Temple Mount only
