Most Americans despise regulation and socialism. We speak American not english. Get US out of the un NOW!!!!!! While euros slip into a financial abyss ; there is still hope for an isolationist America. Our revolution was fought to free ourselves from oppressive euros. barry , our current dysfunctional leader should be exiled to paris. Look at greece , a movie trailer of things to come. Get ready for a ramadan bomb-a-thon. europe what a nice place to be from.
I'm not so sure about this. There are a few large different ethnic groups and a lot of smaller ones, this is the same in a lot of other countries, especially in the big cities. I can see how and why it is called a melting pot but it's far from the only one. I think other 'melting pots' might be even more colourful in cultural differences because people may be less focussed on the prevalent uniform culture than in America.
There is a huge ethnic diversity in America, even discounting people whose grandparents came from Ireland or Italy or wherever 100 years ago. I realize making fun of America is a popular past time of non-Americans, but I'm just really curious why a huge influx of immigrants from all around the world still continue to come here if America really sucks that bad. Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware of America's flaws because I am American and I see it every day. But I also think Americans get a lot of shit simply because we're an easy target and our government thinks they rule the world. In reality much of the world is a pretty fucked up place. I would rather live here than Sudan, just as an example.....but hipforumers don't sit around talking about how fucked up the Sudanese are. It gets a little annoying to be honest. We get it, the rest of the world hates us. Shut up about it already. edit, I also wanted to point out how Odon constantly talks about how Americans think we're the center of the world....yet he's the one talking about it. Why do people from other countries like to spend so much time talking about America?
Because it still has the name of being the land of lots of opportunities (still righteous in some regards) and still has an above average living standard. Nope it's not that a popular pasttime. It's like you say, it's just too easy America is annoyingly in everybody's face all the time, Sudan isn't. Besides, your country is often in the news/media with ridicilous and trivial stories. It's really quite righteous. Not in the last place because you guys make easy fun of others quite a lot too. You're not that different from the rest of the world in that regard No way, not until you guys make it less easy
This isn't about hating or making fun of America. This is about me noticing that the British tend to sound more eloquent and have a way with words. I love languages, and English is not my first language, so I tend to notice these things. If any of you are offended or want to make an issue out of this, then that is entirely your problem. Then again, I suppose it also depends on one's level of education.
People make a living out of that : / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtAUsVXB9OU"]CLASSIC LARRY......GIT-R-DONE!! - YouTube I have no idea what it means...
WTF are you talking about? There are plenty of people who live in America, who speak other languages and weren't born here. You must be basing your image of America based on the crap you watch on TV.
That's not quite what she said... Imagine the amount of people that claim Irish decent yet know nothing about what actually occurs in Ireland... Only connection: they celebrate St Patrick's day...
I agree, after all there are plenty of Brits who are just as bad as some of the people we have here in America. Many great authors are Americans, as well as many great authors are Brits. What bout the chav problem you all have in England. I certainly speak better then a chav Note: none of the Brits on here I have spoken to are chav's I was just listing it as an example
I wasn't really talking about your original post. I don't necessarily disagree as far as articulation and eloquence goes, although I don't think the British in general have a high horse to climb on, in my opinion. but I was just making a general observation based on what I frequently see on these forums. What depends on one's level of education? I am sure it takes a PhD to figure out what people are talking about in this thread
