Peta for me has lost all credibility. I will never be able to take them seriously ever again unless they can back up their claims with some hard evidence. I have a feeling I know what kicked off all these rumours. I have stopped eating chocolate from masterfoods temporarily for a different reason. Basically they changed suppliers of one of the ingredients that they used (Whey Powder), so they were no longer able to guarantee that it was produced by animal rennet or not. So they decided to say that it is not suitable for vegetarians. Due to market forces they were forced to do a U turn and use a supplier that could guarantee that the whey powder was suitable for vegetarians. What I think Peta have done in this instance is that they have got hold of the wrong end of the stick or somebody must of spread rumours to them that they must be doing cruel experiments or something and have not bothered to check to make sure this was true or not, thus taking believing it in blind faith! You really need to step back and ask the question why when you hear claims like this. What are the point of these cruel experiments? No company in their right minds would ever consider doing anything like this. It seems very unlikely that they would fund such a project as it has no relevance to their product and would hemorrhage money, not to mention the damage it would do to their brand image. I just wish people engage their brains before making claims that they cannot back up or prove. Matt
For all you animal rights nuts out there...I have a question. If you were stranded in the wilderness and your very survival depended on you killing and eating an animal, could you bring yourself to do it?
That's right. I don't have exact figs. in front of me, but I think they end up killing over 99% of the animals that they "save" from their owners. I would think that it's not their original intention to kill them...but you gotta wonder if there's a better way. And not only that, but it kind of instantly makes them a bunch of hypocrites. I remember they rallied against bass fishing tournaments saying that it was cruel to the fish...
