I suppose that I have no other choice but to agree with you here, when you say that there ARE lots of Jews who DON'T go along with the idea that they're supposed to commit mass murder against their "goy" neighbors, as the Torah commands. Thank goodness for that ! But on the other side of the coin, we also have the example of the "heroic" IDF using field howitzers to plant cluster bombs all over the Lebanese countryside. We also have the example of those "brave" Jewish soldiers who seem to "get off" on shooting "goy" women in their pregnant bellies with full-metal-jacket rounds. I hate to say it, but the soldiers are definitely behaving in accordance with Torah standards when they commit atrocities against non-Jews, while their "refusnik" brethren are definitely straying from the roots of their religion when they show even the smallest concern for the lives of goyim.

 

The following passage was taken from an English translation of the Jewish Tanach or Pentateuch. It can be found in the book of D'varim or Deuteronomy.

I'd really like to know if you're able to "read things" into the passage which aren't readily apparent.

Let's brainstorm on this one !

It does seem that views within Israel itself are mixed and the law revolving around mixed marriages is a joke.

So, again...it is all down to interpretation and the views of the people rather than the religion itself.


I like how all you're e.g are within the strict world of Israel..and not how Judaism is practiced around the world...which is vastly different.
But things seem to be changing even in Israel.

New approach to mixed faith marriage blessings



We are pleased to announce a significant new development in the Liberal Judaism approach to mixed faith marriage blessings.

As part of an evolutionary process, the Rabbinic Conference of the Union of Liberal and Progressive Synagogues has been reviewing the rules that have been in force for some years regarding rabbinic participation in blessings for mixed faith marriages.

The major changes that have been agreed include allowing a blessing for such marriages to be given in a synagogue and for accepting the participation of a non-Jewish minister at those blessings.
Until now, blessings have been carried out at the discretion of a rabbi, but not on synagogue premises.

These are natural developments given that most Liberal Synagogues already welcome non-Jewish spouses and partners as Friends or Associates.

While these blessings remain an extension of our inclusive nature, they are not to be seen as Jewish weddings and have no status in either Jewish or civil law.

Next: Isn't it strange how Jews butcher their children by cutting off their foreskin.

Rabbinical Court allows cohen to marry daughter of non-Jew.

In an unusual decision which came on the heels of intervention by the Prime Minister's Office, the High Rabbinical Court in Jerusalem recently ruled that a member of the priestly cohen caste may marry the daughter of a non-Jew.

The case began in the summer of 2004, when Rabbinate officials told Shmuel Cohen and Irena Plotnikov that they could not marry, even though Plotnikov, an immigrant from the former Soviet Union whose mother is Jewish, had already had her Jewish status approved upon entering the country. The court rejected Cohen and Plotnikov on the basis that a member of the priestly cohen caste, of which Cohen is said to be descended, cannot marry a woman whose father is not Jewish.

Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo Amar, who is also president of the High Rabbincal Court, said that the court's decision was based not on PMO intervention, but on the opinion of Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.

The Prime Ministers' Office intervened on behalf of the couple last summer when approached by Alex Tanzer, a social activist for the advancement of civil marriages. Tanzer had argued that because Cohen had served and was wounded in Israel's wars, he should be permitted to marry his fiancee.

Tanzer said the court's recent deicison would serve as a precedent to allow many other couples to marry in Israel.

You seem to be missing the point, as usual.

A proceeding was held for the purpose of "ascertaining the Jewishness" of a couple that was hoping to get married. The woman was forced to submit evidence of her genetic makeup to the rabbinical court. This is racism. It only serves to underscore the "racist" nature of Judaism. If Judaism wasn't "racist," there would have been absolutely NO inquiries into the genetic makeup of this couple.
