Bonnaroo

man im still recovering from bonnaroo. You guys were so beautiful. I had so much fun. Its a shame someone died. I loved my tent neighbors. I can't wait to go again next year.

 

i had a total BLAST, did NOT wana come home, me and sugarmag^ unofficially met lol! the music was incredible! i sooo enjoyed john butler trio, citizen cope, keller williams, ray lamontagne, particle, jack johnson, matisyahu, & soooo much more!!!! i wandered a lot and met so many right on people. i became hooked on the moaning poles, man those things were the best! MAN! i cant believe i missed seein olhippie!!! & plz tell me u took a pic of the dude with the diaper!!!

 

thats one chill line up dude! i saw mm&w again a couple weeks ago, they were just jammin like crazy.

 

So after a 15 hour drive we arrived in Manchester and met up with one of my friends old tour buddies, and the whole group of us that drove down ended up being companion cars and camped in handicapped accessable, being a 5 minute walk from the stage was awesome. I spent that night wandering shakedown and the campgrounds and such talking to random people, then the whole not sleeping for two days or so set in and I passed out for the night.
~Friday morning I went to see Old Crow then Alison Krauss, but couldn’t wait any longer to get food so I had to duck out early- but we could hear it from our tent so it was all good. I saw a bit of Drive by Truckers, but two of the people I was with really wanted to see Jurassic 5, so I went there… it was alright. On a totally sad note, apparantly the stuff my buddy bought earlier was laced and I fainted and his girlfriend was feeling really messed up, so we went back to camp and slept. I was PISSED when I woke up and realized I had slept through Allman Bros and Bela Fleck. I went to see Dave for a little bit, but im not a huge fan so I only stayed 45 minutes or so. I went by Galactic for a bit then headed into STS9 (one of the favorite points of the weekend).……. AMAZING. They had the crowd partying from 130 to 5 or whenever it ended. It was so much fun. I finally went back to my tent around 6 am and got about 2 hours of sleep before my tent turned into a sauna.
~Saturday morning I saw Tea Leaf Green, which rocked, then headed to get a spot at Gov’t Mule. Again, awesome show. YMSB and Particle were tons o fun. Okay, so the Keller show is one of the others tied for the highlight of my weekend. I met a bunch of awesome people and we all danced in the mud together and had a blast. I was pixie-dusted at one point, so I ended up tired, covered in mud, and sparkly. His show was amazing, and I just came out of there just glowing and happy. We ate and relaxed during Widespread, but listened to the whole show from our campsite. No one else I went with was impressed but I really thought Trey was a really good show. I then wandered over to Karl Denson and found myself wandering and again got back to my tent 530-ish.
~Sunday started off with Matisyahu who friggin rocked, and I headed to a little bit of Umphrey’s McGee. I got to Bob Weir and Ratdog really early… holy shit I had fun there. They were AMAZING and it was just an awesome crowd/atmosphere… really good vibes going on there. Had tons of fun (also tied for possible highlight)… I just thought it was a great show overall. I was able to catch the end of My morning Jacket saw a little of Donna the Buffalo and headed to Widespread. That night I just wandered and found all sorts of fun to get myself into. The people there rocked, they were just inviting strangers into their campsite to chill with ‘em.
~Monday morning when we packed it really was sad… I’m gonna miss it. Unfortunately we were talking to one of the security guys and he said because of the deaths (according to him there were two…) this may end up being the last Bonnaroo. Hopefully hes wrong. Ive gotta say everyone there was so friendly. It was also weird how many people I ran into from Jersey that I knew… I didn’t even know they were going but I ran into them in the middle of Tennessee in a crowd of 100,000 or whatever it was… crazy. So yeah, amazing time, music was great…. I need more festival action this summer… it just pumped me up for more.

 

I saw govt mule, allman bros, black crows, joss stone, and a band named old union( thought they were excellent) still gotta say DMB was my fav.

 

bonnaroo was great! im sorry it took yall so long to get in the gates, and to get to manchester. it took me 5 minutes after i got off work to get in. but...i live here.

 

so i didnt go, but im just curious about the two or one people that died... like how did they die? i really hope that they have another bonnaroo becuz i was supposed to go next year when im 16 and drive down there!! so inform me im really curious. thanks!!

i only knew of one....was an alabama man who died of sleep apnea, a sleep disorder he had...wasnt drug related at all. how unfortunate!

 

so i spoke to my friend (he went to first aid at one point) they said one person died of sleep apnea- would have happened whether they were at bonnaroo or sleeping in their own bed.
They said a girl overdosed though. They had many OD's who they saved, many sun poinsoned or dehydrated people they saved, but one girl was too gone before they got to her and died of an overdose. That hasnt been in any articles or anything, so who knows for sure.

 

Did anybody see the kid with the watermelon on his head before Mule? He was singing, and playing a pot with a spoon... funny shit!! "Momma never loved me... Daddy drank too much... I'm the watermelon man... the watermelon man!"

 

I would give anything if I had taken a pic of that!! It was a jock strap taped on with clear tape. He also had a horsetail pinned on the ass of it. He did a striptease under the mushroom fountain, and he was just so serious about it. I laughed so hard I cried girl. Good times, good times..

 

so i had the best time ever. a couplew friend's going back to pa iddntm ake it out. they were all high and apparently there was an accident already they hita cop in the road and he went like 10 feet in the air, he lived. but there all screwed now. im still with a friend in tennessee. apparently its like the big story back home thou. did anyone happen to see naked man flying a kite selling mangoes and bananas. he was awsome. i have so much GLASS!!!!!!!!!

I got stuck in the traffic for that accident... that really sucks for all involved!! Sorry for your friends, and I'm glad the cop is okay.

Is it true that she was really distracted by "Surprise Valley" from Bonnaroo 03?

 

Particle sucked.. anywho lol, Herbie Hancock absolutely ripped it up with the filthiest funk, when he came out for superjam like I knew he would, it ended up being probably the best show I have ever seen. Les on bass, questlove on drums, herbie on keys, and I think herbie's guitarist on guitar.. amazing. The Word was absolutely mind-blowing also.

superjam was amazing, they were jammin like crazy. and some kid like patted me on the shoulder to tell me he was trippin. it did get intense though.

Hah! Where were you standing when the tripping guy tapped you? Three of the people I was with were dosed out for the first time.. Particle just isn't very talented in comparison to the other bands at bonnaroo.. I dunno I just thought there was better music to be heard, it was too trance like for me.

 

I enjoyed Particle alot. They really took me there man. There were definately better bands, but it still was awesome.

i saw the diaper guy... and yes the word completely did rock my world... i was completely wasted the entire weekend... so had i seen ya'll i don't think i would remember, but it's great to hear ya'll had such a blast. i must say best bonnaroo by far... minus the girl passing out on the blanket (really hoping that one OD wasn't that girl, i felt very good about myself though for not leaving her to God only know's what... sucks to see that but it comes with the territory, too many drugs, heat and excitment...) as for sunday night though i did exactly what (too lazy to look up and see who said it) did.. just wandered around getting free stuff, i had this one guy walk up to me and give me close to 2 ounces... just cause... it was nice got a lot of free drinks and other stuff... had a great time though! kick ass shirts! if anyone got that "Tall Boy" Panic/Bonnaroo shirt it's awesome!
