Bonnaroo is dead. it is a shell of its former 2002 self. the original, the best. it was huge, yet unknown. all the artist were top of the line, no bullshit. now, the fest is riddled with lots of bullshit. but it is not all bad, they have had some very important performances since. but Superfly Productions is going down hill, they get more and more greedy every year. i mean shit, my ex girlfriends broher's band played Roo last year, and they are terrible. god do i hate that band. downhill.

I went to the first bonnaroo, it was definitly not the caliber of anything I had ever experienced before. I like to go to festivals and meeting all the people, and seeing all the bands, but that was just an insane, sensory overload. Im happy to have had the experience, but camping around that many people, driving 12 hrs to get there and sitting in line for 12 hrs, not something I really want to do again. I'll stick to the smaller festies, even though they have changed alot in the past few years. too much fuzz on the way up to the events and you cant be as trusting as you used to be inside the events. plus, they have attracted alot of people that only go for reasons other than the music, even so, if you have never experienced something like bonnaroo, its definitly a memorable experience.

its sad that WAKA went that way.....so many cops this past year. 04 was like freedom fest, 2005 the screws were a little tight, but still loose as hell, but then 06 was like a Nazi regime....insanity. they are talking about moving it away from the Public Lands and putting on private property, that would save alot of hassle...

for people who are seriously going for the music(or bring there own), the cops are absolutely NO problem....
actually i think the cop presence will make some of the assholes think twice about attending, and the vibe will get better. at least at roo. the cops don't leave the the main road and the horse back rent-a-cops are really just for looks. the rent-a-cops are only on the main dirt path between shakedown and centeroo.
so your safe to do whatever you want in your tent and campsite, and your safe to do what ever you want in centeroo.

when i was at roo last year, i bet about 50 cops saw me and my friends smoking at my friends campsite, which was right on the main road. non of them even reacted as we passed our new bong around. but don't get me wrong, there where arrests at roo, but not normally for simple possession. people who where arrested had pounds and such, and really, what did they expect..... ya take a risk.

^^But see, the thing is, the people who do get busted are almost always screwed by undercovers. The more of that there is going around, the more it will change the all-around vibe of the festie. I would tend to agree that it's pretty played out. I almost wish we could all take a year off the big fests and just go back to smallish ones for a while. Let the whole scene cool down a little bit. Then again, I don't have the luxury of being able to go "just for the music". I have to be able to set up a 10x10 and show off my wares. I'm still undecided about Roo this next year - I'll just have to see what the vibe is like. :)

i brought it with me, and i also shared with some folks, and they shared with me. i must of smoked up 40 or more different people at roo, and i was smoked up many many times too.

all you have to do is bring a pipe/bong, and the weed will come to you.

Superfly was bought out by Clear Channel about 3 years ago. So whether it's their fault or Clear Channels is up for debate. Beside the point anyway I guess.

    prove it.
The CC buy out is urban legend.
CC bought SFX and renamed it Live Nation, but that is the only major buy aside from real estate CC has made in four years.

huh... That filled in a blank in my head. Live Nation is the company that owns Deer Creek, and is breaking it up, tearing it down and selling parcels to the hightest bidder.:( (supposedly after this year's concert season) I know they've talked about this before, but it's gone farther this time than ever before. If the Dead does a blowout for Deer Creek I'll so make that trip. If they don't, I'll eat my hat.

right: real estate. I think CC is too big for the musicians' good (no competition means the smaller acts ger screwed financially).
BUT Superfly and its booking are independent of CC.

the only thing that sucks about roo is food and drink prices... but thats to be expected at most any big festie.

glass prices are really good at roo.
