Bonnaroo 2009

anyone going that went to starscape on saturday? that shit was sick as fuck. i walked away from starscape thinking , "how could bonnaroo be more fun than this?!"

only 2 more days!

 

Ohhhmannnnn Bonarrrooooooooooo in less than 8 hours i'm gonna be waking up and starting the journey to the farm. Woooo Time to sleep though, peace and love see you all there!

ive been thinking the same thing! i love starscape...

 

Just got back, all in all I had a wonderful time, met all kinds of cool people and heard some really great music! You couldn't ask for better weather in the middle of June in Tennessee! Only problems I had were the poor audio at the stages and the bad acid that was everywhere.

Can't wait for Rothbury!!

 

tell us more...specifically the acid scene, im dissapointed to here that

 

Yeah me and my friends got some very bad acid. It was definitely some kind of psychedelic, possibly 2-CB or some other research chemical. The body buzz was without a doubt the dirtiest feeling I've ever felt from any kind of psychedelic. My arms and face went back and forth from feeling tingly to completely numb and my legs felt like pins and needles at certain times of the night. At many points I was experiencing some muscle twitches /spasms and was only able to relax my muscles by really concentrating, which was very hard for me to do. My body temp was way high the entire night, and couldn't even enjoy Pretty Lights/Oakenfold. There were visuals but not the pleasant "dancing aura"-type visuals that you get with acid, more like dreary undulating patterns and tessellations.

The trip lasted well into the next morning and I couldn't get any sleep because by the time I came down it was too hot out to go back to sleep, but suprisingly I still had alot of energy all day. I ended up meeting at least 5 other people who said that they got the same shit for the same deal, 60 bucks a 10-strip. Anyone know what this might have been? I had talked to some other people who had been at Wakarusa and thought they had the same stuff there.

Kinda, yes and no. It was probably one of the most bizarre mental tripes i've had.

lets just say that the Boss definitely put me to work.

my GF even ripped off her top and yelled "god bless america" when Bruce suggested that everyone have an orgy in front of the main stage. it twas hilarious.

I was one of a VERY SMALL minority that was not tripping. Drugs are not my thing, but they were everywhere, and I think just about everyone I saw was indulging in something.

Oh well, everyone was friendly and helpful.

The music was what I went for, and it did not disappoint.

The main band that I wanted to see was Phish. I only got to see their second show, but they FAR exceeded my expectations. David Byrne was also outstanding! Many, many more to praise, but I'll stop with those two.

More age and race diversity this year, but fewer kiddos than last year. More filthy hippy feet, caked with dried mud, than anyone ever needs to see in a lifetime. Store prices were beyond outrageous, so plan and pack well for next year. Take lots of water, and work hard to stay hydrated in the Tennessee heat.

The low point had to be that my camping neighbors got their money and credit cards stolen. Be careful, kids, there are evil folk out there preying on the kind folk.

Again, quite well run. Very good (if expensive) food, helpful workers and fans, and mostly good sanitation.

yea, shitty acid all over but fantastic molly! spent all 4 days rolling almost non stop. both phish shows were phenomenal. during the second one me and 2 other people, one i had just met had the most epic lightsaber battle. heh

im so dissapointed i missed the moe. set. i heard they went on till 7 in the morning! i went to see MGMT instead and was honestly dissapointed with their lack of energy.

 

You know I only live an hour and a half from Manchester and I've never been to Bonnaroo. Maybe I should go next year.

 

we got ripped off on some acid twice. its because my boyfriend was buying skinny blotter tsk tsk. i was pretty disappointed, the first stuff we bought was either really weak or i just psyched myself into believing it was because we took it for crystal castles/girl talk and i certainly felt different but i barely tripped. i danced a lot longer than i would have if i wasn't. but yeah, girl talk was ridiculous. then we bought some that he was going to eat at NIN and i took for MGMT but we were so tired and it was totally fake and mgmt kinda sucked they didn't have much energy, i agree. i ate some yummy chocolates before animal collective and tripped my balls off though. yeah yeah yeahs came on next and i was out of my mind!! that show was some of the trippiest shit i have ever seen!!! i love bonnaroo.

 

Yeah there was fake acid and molly going around, you just have to know where to look, its better to make friends with people around your campsite and ask them where they get there stuff, then to just trust some random guy in the road that you wont see for the rest of the weekend.... but i had the most amazing time there this year, better than 08 which was my first. I was even sad for about a week after because i missed it so much.
