i agree last year was okay yea i didnt go see the police but the lineup was good enough to where it didn't matter there were pleanty of other bands that i wanted to see. im hoping they come out something like the disco biscuts, telepath, shpongle anything! Echo last year was so sick.. i want roo to compete
i think your expectations were too high, i mean robert plant is gonna be there,2 sets from phil lesh and friends, allman brothers, my morning jacket, fucking levon helm, sigur ros, bb king, the bluegrass allstars looks fantastic, umphreys, yonder, derek trucks, robert randolph, talib kweli, drive by truckers, orchestra baobob ( amazing band), dark star, two gallants, iron & wine. those are all top notch artists. the only thing that really upsets me is kanye west, like wtf, he sticks out like a sore thumb in this line up. i can deal with meticalla, but kanye west is stupid and doesn't deserve to be there, and will bring in a weird crowd.
yea your right my expectations are really high. allthough i do admit to not knowing a whole lot of bands on this one either, which is why im gonna look most of them up. prolly starting off with ones you named that i didnt know. hey i might just really really like some of them.
Yea I actually gotta say Im pretty disappointed as well... I was expecting a lot more good music and a lot less crap lol. a lot of the people playing I really want to see, but most of em I can see at other festivals or at other shows. Also, I know its not about the scene, but I know a lot of the fans of some of the people playing are gonna be annoying, and douchebaggish. Idk, i was excited about bonnaroo, kinda bummed now. :/
I am there. I already have ticket money set aside. I am all for Metallica at roo. Everyone was bashing Tool last year and now they are reguarded as one of the better shows from last year. But who knows. I cant wait to see Pearl Jam.
hey does anyone know how to inquire about clean up crew? Do they take volunteers at All Good? If anyone has any info on how i would go about signing up for this for either event please PM me. it'd be greatly appreciated
I mean, music and music and whatever music it may be, it is something to celebrate. But this years lineup will definitely change things in terms of who will be going, what the crowd will be like, etc. Plenty of people from my school are going just to get drunk and party. The musics cool, i just dont think itll be the best group of ppl.
I agree man. The crowd is probably going to be moshing and shit. A very non-peaceful habitat. Isnt Bonnaroo supposed to be about peace?
yea... idk ima keep myself updated on "All Points West" it's in Jersey and it sounds promising. if i could afford it i'd go to langerado the line up is the sickest ive seen yet.
Personally, besides Metallica and Kanye West, which are 2 acts that I outright despise, This is actually a great lineup. I mean come on! Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Allman Brothers Band, Robert Plant & Allison Krauss, Willie Nelson, Jack Johnson, The Raconteurs, B.B. King, Levon Helm, Robert Randolph, Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi... I dunno, but unless I hate music, that actually sounds like a pretty fucking good lineup if you ask me. I'm going for the first time this year, and I hope to have the best time ever. So what if Metallica and Kanye West are on the bill. All those so called "hippies" calling for the state of Tennessee to ban Metallica from playing should be ashamed of themselves. That's not what peace and love is all about. Yeah, so what if it ain't your kind of music. They still have a right to play if they are invited to. If you don't like it, don't listen. Go back to your tent and take a power nap. If you do happen to dig Metallica or Kanye West, good for you.
Actually, it is about peace and love. In any event, it is simply prudent to give the festival goers a good idea of what to expect in terms of the bands playing, the kinds of people these bands will attract and the possible impact in terms of public safety. Even during Woodstock 1969, the more heavier bands like Iron Butterfly were actually discouraged at the last minute from participating in the festival as they were deemed to attract negative vibes at that time. In the interest of safety, metal bands or those that will most likely attract a more aggressive, rowdier crowd, IMHO, shouldn't be mixed in with bands and music fans of a gentler disposition. Metal bands belong to an Ozzfest type of event, where much stringent crowd control is expected.
Well put. I can't ephasize the stupidity of mainsteam rap and metallica fans in TN enough. throw in the promise of drugs and these white and black (just to be fair) trash tweaker assholes are going to swarm manchester like flies on shit. I know bonnaroo is a music festival, not necessarily a jam music festival, but when a crowd gets that big things can go from zero to complete chaos in an instant. I've been going to bonnaroo almost every year, and have seen a very eclectic variety of musicians on the line up (a lot i didn't care for), but i never really complained. It just seems like this year they're just asking for trouble though. Through inviting the artists they invite the following of said artists. I honestly fear for the safety of the patrons of this year's festival. It has nothing to do with whether or not I like Metallica, Mastadon, or Kanye West. This just feels like the end of it all. I think AC is taking all he can this year, because dealing with politics in the city of Manchester has become too much to deal with. I've worked for said festival a number of years, but last year when we heard over on the radio that dispatch had requested that all Manchester city police were to be arrested on site by coffee county because they were busting people for smoking pot (like shooting fish in a barrel at bonnaroo) I knew that things were going to be very different this year. My bet is that the high cost of tickets, and lack of early bird specials have almost everything to do with heightened security and bribery. If you're coming for the drugs, you'd probably do better to visit a drug dealer or one of the other festivals. this year is all about money and i can think of no band that symbolizes greed better than Metallica. I don't honestly believe this line up will hold up after the backlash of city officials and citizens of manchester. I also think a lot of the better bands will drop out once they hear how disgusted the fans are with this decision.
