This is the guy who would have lines at his house every time he came home and would personally hand out between $20,000 & $50,000 @ each setting, not just donate money to a charity-he made sure his money went where it was most needed. He would have mothers who could not afford clothes or books so their children could attend school. He would buy the local futbol league new uniforms and equipment, he would even go out and play futbol in the streets with the local kids. The same guy was had an attempt on his life moments before a concert and still went on with the concert. I cant think of any other man or woman in history that had a heart the size of this man!!!

    I didn't :p

I used to be really into him (hence the name..).. I don't listen to his music much anymore, but it annoys me to no end when I see little kids get into him (and other extremely talented musicians like Jimi.. couldn't really give a damn about Jim or Janis :p) and say he's so great after only hearing Legend, and then, a month or so later, they say he sucks.... that already happened to all the "hippies" in my area, they're all um... skater girls... or something like that now.

    Hilarious shit. :D

You can't let what happened in your local area affect how you view others. I say right on to the young ones if they love Bob after hearing Legend. If they hold on to their taste, and keep on listening, they can truly understand and enjoy his music for what it is. 5 years ago I fell in love with Legend, and now listen to Marley all the time.

I think everyone has to be introduced to him somehow. For me it was legends, I was so young I dont really remeber. But b/c of that I have got into his lesser known work. I feel you on the "posers", but not everyone how started listening to legends is a wannabe!

Same here, I'll join in a conversation people have about Bob Marley and start talking about some of his early stuff from the 60s and they'll look at me funny...but I know what soulrebel is saying, unfortunately, it happens with too many artists...

What do you MEAN, he has nothing to do with the 60s?!?! Most of his best work comes from his work in the 60s when he was with the Wailers. If you don't think he was one of the greatest men in the 60s/70s, that's fine, it's your opinion. But saying he has nothing to do with the 60s is just ignorant. His music actually sends a message, and he was an extremely faithful and charitable man...

    OK...I answered yes..

i definetly think marley was amazing...very beautiful and talented artists and human being...I absolutely appreciate marley..

    BUT

    the big but..

i agree he is say a cliche hippy artist..not that he or his music was cliche..in the fact that people just listen to him because of his popularity in the hip culture...

    BUT

these young kids have to start somewhere..and when ur not really introduced to the scene..how are u supposed to know of the music..they have to start somewhere right?? just as you said u did...as did i .. i got into marley, doors, dylan, jimi....dead..etc...and that's what began my journey into the hip community..now my musical taste has evolved into much more..but yet..i still appreciate the origional crew that started it all..

so..in conclusion...STL *spread the love*...and help these youngin's grow and experience the wonderful world of music...
