bob marley hasn't got a thing in common with this tune. he never wrote nor sing it. it was writtern by the toyes in 1996(originally in spanish: "Dos Lenos"), by then marley was long gone. it was then covered by sublime. the 'live' version on the web might have bob marley stated as the author, but belive me - it's not bob marley. it's just a common mistake: people putting things on the web without knowing what they are uploading: to this people all reggae is bob marley, all 60s rock bands are beatles and so on

Like it was already stated by a cat earlier, it was toe/foot cancer. He discovered it after playing soccer and his beliefs kept him from getting the medical treatments. I believe it was pretty fast or maybe to the point of when the cancer was discovered it was too late. RIP BOB.

 

Yes, it was toe/foot cancer.. He got it from being tackled by a reporter while playing football. The doctors said he could live if he had the toe amputated but Bob didn't want to do it. The first reason was his beliefs, the second was that it would affect his balance on stage.. But later he agreed to minor surgery (mainly because his wife, Rita was telling him to do it), sadly the cancer wasn't completely removed. A few years later: "..a tour of the U.S. was announced, but while jogging in New York's Central Park he collapsed, and it was discovered he suffered from cancer that had spread to his brain, lungs, and liver...". He battled the disese for eight months (even went in chemotherapy). The dreadlocks were just falling out from the chemo and he was devestated (he looked himself in the mirror and said: "..no, that's not me. God take me now!"). The source of the info is a documentary i saw a while ago..
