I avoid Starbucks. I would think most sane folks do the same? Wanna have coffee with Janis and Kurt? You won't find them at Starbucks. QP
Actually the last time I went to Starbucks the ghost of Kurt Cobain was there, he was having tea with Jimi Hendrix and Michael Jackson.
I would think the ghost of Janis Joplin - was very much the center of attention? I mean, no true Rock and Roll tea party... is an outstanding success (without Janis). Rock on!! QP
Sounds like someone is jealous, probably more so in the fact Dylan never wanted to be a symbol of anything, while Mitchell tried to be. Plus the fact Dylan has been doing commercials, most notably his first being for Victoria's Secret. He did say back in the 60's in an interview though when asked what he'd sell out for, responded "women's lingerie". He was in fact not joking.
i don't know. just based on what is posted in the thread she sounds bitter and jealous. but i don't know enough about the situation to say any more than that. i'll be sure to set my alarm to go off at 5 a.m. every day so i can jump up and reply to any thread you make in the middle of the night within 50 minutes of it being made.
I know you are being ironic. Kurt hated all things corporate. So what's up with Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan? :sunny: QP
I really don't want to agree with you (you being so big on Cobain, and him sucking terribly and all), but I must about Joni Mitchell's whining being a sign of the times. Now is the time of vicarious fame - sometimes you can be famous cause you are related to this or that person - but sometimes you don't have such luck and to be proactive you must attack someone. If you're really adamant about it, it can make you really famous and then you can build a more moral image (Eminem)
i actually wasn't being ironic. i was serious. starbucks and all things seattle rode him to corporate success and riches. kurt cobain became a part of the money-machine. people associated with his "scene," this being seattle and all things coffee, rode that intro to success. they sold out. or bought in. whichever.
haha. i have to confess, i do enjoy eminem's word play. the only think i like about nirvana was "dumb." or whatever it's called.
Actually, I like Eminem. A lot. :sunny: But this thread is about Joni Mitchell's harsh criticism of Bob Dylan. What are your honest thoughts about that? Is he a prophet or a fake? Tell me everything.... QP
I find Bob Dylan to be an incredibly open public figure, who wore all his attitudes, thoughts, conflicts, and even inconsistencies on his sleeve. Used to be a great artist, as well. All artists are fakes. I once heard about writers that they, tell the truth by lying; I don't think there's any difference in photography, painting, etc. Art is illusion. Why's that so unbelievable? It's sure sells albums. It doesn't even have to be suicide. Look at Michael Jackson' and Heath Ledger's deaths and how their levels of fame rose.
yup. though the rise of the coffee giants coincided immediately with the grunge scene. i thought it was funny.
i'm not a fan of either. my family raised me on motown, then early rap, you know, the stuff that sounded like a squaredance. from there i went to alternative, back in the day when alternative didn't just mean "everyone who sounds like nirvana."
