I just don't get it. Does the justice system have something to do with retail sales?

Yes... They both make lots and lots of money. Many times from people that just can't afford it.

Big Business owns the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government – so the answer is an emphatic YES!

How come all these people can not only be there for the fight, but queue overnight if they deem it necessary,to grab these non-bargains? There's a little word;single syllable but multi-context,called WORK. As this is a Friday-ie,a workday-how come so very many people arguing, pushing, shoving, scrapping, grabbing 'bargains' [mwahahaha] and generally appearing to spend money that isn't earning by being at work? A few people being wankers, taking Friday off to grab a tv,I can understand-but SO MANY?

Even if I were insane enough to think I needed to just get out there and SHOP SHOP SHOP yesterday (black Friday), I wouldn't because in principle I think it is sooo wrong making those employees work these crappy jobs on a day they should be home with their families.

I certainly can't speak for ALL states, but I know for a FACT that here, in SC, employees at stores often are not paid time and a half or double time or anything extra for working on Thanksgiving...unless it is a nation-wide store AND they are scheduled to work both the day before and the day after. In a number of instances/places, it is just another day to work for the company, period.

I think the getting paid extra applies different state to state...just like with this new health care that is supposedly being shoved down everybody's throats (which I don't think that...read on)...in my state, the governor refused to participate in the national health care program offered, and that was that...nothing for people like me.

The only employees I know that get extra pay are those that work in plants. In my "store" (McDonald's) you don't even get that - the time and a half - regardless of how you're scheduled. Again, it may be different in another state. Thank goodness I wasn't scheduled to work.

Back when I worked for my dad's business, if you didn't work the day before and the day after a holiday, you didn't get your holiday pay. He had from 20 - 40 employees I guess.

Why screw these people over on the little bit of extra money they should be getting? Seriously. Give them their fucking money! We didn't work at all on Thanksgiving and I consider it a paid day off. I'm more than happy to pay that money. It's called....not fucking people over.

half my office took Friday off. Some businesses just completely close Thursday and Friday. Then of course you have your stay at home moms and older retirees mixed in the crowd. Also most black Friday shoppers start very early, like 4 or 5 am, hours before the work day begins.

    crazy ass people

I think it's sick and disappointing to see humans acting like that. It' does however, perfectly illustrate the nature and purpose of this (and other) capitalist societies and the

condition in which people have become completely immune to any common sense when it comes to priorities. To add:The recent elections are illustrative of the lack of critical thinking, IMO. That is if you are a working stiff.

I did go out for the one item. It was a pair of trainers that Mia had on her wish list. Got them and left. The stores were busy but not too bad considering. The parking lots were more of a hassle than the stores.

If I were to go next year for one item like that I would take the bus and avoid parking.
