If I had to just pick one song from the sixties I couldn't live without, it wouldn't be a hippie or a psychedelic track, like you asked for, but a great big slab of Who-esque, Freakbeat/Mod brilliance called "I'm Rowed Out" by The Eyes. Second place to that would be the same bands track "When The Night Falls".
to bad i cant spell phychedelic! well the best phycedelic song is Glass Onion by the beatles. or maybe insence and peppermint by strawberry alorm clock. i actually dont know..
For psychedelic songs, I always liked: Pink Floyd - "Lucifer Sam" (Of course ) Pink Floyd - "See Emily Play" The Doors - "The End" (One of the greatest recordings ever) (Actually, this is kinda like acid, not psych) The Yardbirds - "Shapes of Things" The Byrds - "Eight Miles High" The 13th Floor Elevators - "Reverberation" The Beatles - "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" The Rolling Stones - "Citadel" The Rolling Stones - "She's a Rainbow" Plus TONS more I can't think of right now!
my favourite psychedelic songs from the sixties: them - square room the human expression - love at psychedelic velocity the 13th floor elevators - rollercoaster the pretty things - walking through my dreams the electric prunes - i had too much to dream (last night) tomorrow - revolution kaleidoscope - flight from ashiya gandalf - you can travel in the dark alone the beatles - i'm only sleeping we all together - it's a sin to go away the yardbirds - happenings ten years time ago the byrds - eight miles high the rolling stones - 2000 lightyears from home pink floyd - arnold layne kim fowley - the trip jefferson airplane - white rabbit cream - i feel free plus two very odd (and scary) songs... the bees - voices green and purple the blues magoos - dante's inferno
