    How can anyone ignore Robert E. Lee. He took the CSA army - which had a limited recruitment base, no industrialized weapons base and thin supply lines and yet he was able to invade Pennsylvania and come close to winning. Top of his West Point Class - admired by his troops and the whole Confederacy. He took what he had and turned nothing into victory after victory. Lee can not be ignored.

    RGR that! I would counter with William Tecumseh Sherman, tactically ahead of his time -- he understood what it took to win! Howver, you cannot talk about Sherman w/o talking about Grant. Grant had the balls to let Sherman fight.

    I am surprised i haven't heard Napoleon, Mark Antony, Hannibal, Sun Tzu...

    I was always a Zhukov fan too...
