i havent listened to all of it but what ive heard of obscured by clouds is reallyy good dark side of the moon is a fuckingg trip especially when your hotboxin im listening to wish you were here right now =)
I own 13 of their albums, so, in order: 1. Wish You Were Here (best album ever made) 2. Dark Side Of The Moon 3. The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn 4. The Final Cut 5. The Wall 6. Animals 7. The Division Bell 8. Obscured By Clouds 9. Meddle 10. A Saucerful Of Secrets Oh yeah, and 'Amused To Death' by Roger Waters ranks higher than any of those, barring 'Wish You Were Here', of course.
I personally can't choose just one floyd album...they are my favorite band by far...Dark side was one of the first albums I bought when i first got into classic rock so it's a personal favorite of mine. Animals is probably also one of my faves...very listenable...my Dad's friend just recently made me a copy of his More CD (I can't find it in stores )...and I'm very much enjoying it as well. After saying all of that, I'm a huge Syd fan so I'll take Piper and any of his solo work any day
Syd was a genius with a unique outlook on music. He was a lyrical genius and a great innovator (although hardly a great guitarist.) They didn't do psychedelia as well without him, but I love 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'. 'Relics' is a great compilation, too. From 1973 to 1983 they created five albums that quite simply beggar belief, and whilst Gilmour and co. did a good job on 'The Division Bell', they were never as good without Roger Waters. But Waters' lyrics, Gilmour's precise and melodic guitar playing (and guitar solos) Rick Wright's keyboard textures and Nick Mason's drumming set Pink Floyd apart from everyone else. Even their name is the best ever. I'll go for 'Wish You Were Here', followed by 'Dark Side Of The Moon' and 'The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn'.
1:dark side of the moon 2:wish you were here 3:the piper at the gates of dawn 4:ummagumma (the live cd) 5:animals
though ranked they are all very close, you might as well say 1a, 1b, and 1c 1. Meddle 2. Piper at the Gates of Dawn and/or A Saucerful Of Secrets 3. Animals All of their albums are great. well all that i've listened to. I have yet to get Obscured by Clouds or The Final Cut but i will get them eventually. Atom Heart Mother is a little weird but it is not bad. More is good but the incidental music is not superb. IMO the best floyd music came from the Piper-Meddle era. that's what is gold to me. JOn
The Wall. I never get bored of listening to it, or watching it. Dark Side of the Moon would be better if Money wasn't on there.
Darkside of the wall because when you listen to brain damage while looking at optical illusions you go to new places.
