being "enlightened"

    Enlightened is a word that means something different to everybody. I agree with those of you who are saying that "enlightenment" as a solid, tangible goal isn't a very useful concept. Just be, and if you like who you are and who you are becoming then you are enlightened. By why even use such a word?

    The human race has been striving for enlightenment for the past 5000 years or so, and those who have contributed have either died, or are going to die within a century or so, leaving behind new generations which will also die and so on and so on. The extent to which we are slaves of this race for knowledge which cannot experience itself is kind of an ironic joke.

    We should just laugh.
