Last night I was drinking Lagunitas' A Little Sumpin Wild begian IPA. On draft of course. So so good and 8.80 abv, heavy and good buzz. Anyone had this?

Just got back from a stealth mission to the off-license for a bottle of the cheapest yet still drinkable red.

I have not seen this drink before in Russia, to yesterday evening.

    I like it very much!

sure, boiling kills bacteria, but you said earlier that the alcohol kills them. not true.

and after boiling the wort, it sits there for weeks to ferment, and has the chance of getting contaminated (if not done properly like you said)

the alcohol in beer in not strong enough to kill bacteria.

had a Mutt (8%) from Roger's brewing company or something like that with dinner.

my wife had a Windblown Amber from Naked Dove Brewing company. we actually visited there when we did a wine tour on the finger lakes. that amber ale was REALLY good.

then i bought a saranac sampler at the store. enjoying their belgian pale ale right now.

there is a new beer store opening tomorrow - AJ's beer warehouse, on Clay road (for pressed rat's info). i'm hoping they might have pumpking...

edit in reply to rat's post below:

one good thing about this new store for me, it's open til 9PM rather than 7 like BotW.
i think this store's focus is micro/craft brews, so while they probably won't have the "wordly" selection of BotW, they should have an equally impressive collection of domestics.
and yeah, it'd be sweet if it was a little cheaper than BotW

Cool! I hadn't even heard about it. I will have to check it out. I can't imagine them having any better of a selection than BotW, but it will be interesting to see what their prices are like.

Well, I checked it out this morning (the grand opening) because I was out in Henrietta at Lori's (a natural food store, for you non-Rochesterians). It's a pretty cool store, but a work in progress as of right now, and there is a lot of empty space since they are still adding to their selection. In fact, the first thing you notice when you walk in the store is how much empty space there is. Still, they have a pretty good selection so far, including some things I hadn't seen before. Right now things seem to be pretty concentrated on domestics, though I suspect that will change with time. They also have a pretty wicked beer cave of mostly/all domestic brews, though, surprisingly, I don't recall seeing any Southern Tier beers. They had a lot of the other big-name domestics (and a lot of lesser-known ones), though, like Dogfish Head, Smuttynose, Stone, Founders, Victory, and a whole bunch of others.

Overall, it doesn't compare to Beers of the World, or even come close to BotW, but it's good to see some competition in the area.

I snapped a few pictures while I was there. (Some of them are a bit shit because of poor lighting, my shaky hand, and/or the fact they were taken with my phone.)

The Belgian wall (sorry for the poor quality)

    Beer cave (again, poor quality)

Three bottles I picked up there (note one is called Morning Wood... lol)

Yeah, a walk-in fridge, but bigger than most and made to resemble a cave on the inside (at least this one is, slightly).

I can't see how they would get it since Pumking is a seasonal beer, and they're already making 2Xmas for the Christmas season.

maybe there was some sitting in a warehouse somewhere? i know that other store near my hometown still has pumpking on tap, and they told my mom that they might still have it near christmas time.

oh yeah, i got one bottle of that 2xmas stuff
and one of celebration by sierra nevada
and a winter white ale from missouri

I was disappointed by the 2Xmas this year... way too spicy (in a bad way). Last year's version had a nicely subtle gingerbread taste.

yeah, that's why i'm so damn worried about the pumpking. WHAT IF IT'S NOT AS GOOD NEXT YEAR?!

    EDIT:
    they have pumpking!!!
i'm heading over there right after i vape this weed

    EDIT #2:

i'm sipping on a pumpking as we type. pretty damn good, but it kinda has a funky initial taste or smell. it reminds me of my home-made beer from the mr. beer kit.
it's good, but maybe not quite as good as i was thinking it was gonna be.
