all of you have to be kidding, hair on women anywhere except their head is repulsive, hey we're not cave men anymore. in fact hair on men isn't too cool either, but one thing at a time.

hey man, what's up with your negative attitude?
this thread was started b/c a sister was looking for support to be herself, so let's not shoot her down. to each her own, ya know...there is NOTHING "repulsive" about our natural state! like it or not, we grow hair EVERYwhere. so, deal with it!
live & let live (or live & let grow) ;)

it's not like it's 'natural' to be grossed out by hair on women. as far as it being a human thing, there are tons of cultures that think nothing of or enjoy hair on women. ...sometimes it's really hard to realize that a feeling comes from nothing but brainwash. i know "smooth is sexy" but our culture takes it as far as "women can't have hair in certan places" ...now that's fucked up. it's like saying women are sex objects.

anyway... i've tried to keep my legs hairy because i hate shaving. it hurts, stings and itches... and stubble is annoying. but if i want to wear tights, wich is the shit during winter, i gotta shave or it feels awful. so i shave every now n then. i really wish humanity had just evolved past the more pointless hair on our bodies. i'm lucky i've been in relationships with guys who don't care and it seems like my current even likes it.

but i agree that hair can totally go on most anyone. most guys will never shave, though, because it's not socially acceptable - lol. if they would, maybe they'd realize what a pain it can be.

arm pits too... armpit hair on westernized society is nasty, imo, because of our diets, we stink bad, and armpit hair holds scent like it's the reason it's there.

I'm afraid i have to join the ranks of the 'its not for me' ...thankfully i'm not very hairy anyway but still what there is has to go... I'm not repulsed by it...i just like to feel smooth silky skin...

We all have our preferences.... and even though i understand its natural it just doesnt appeal.... i'm not all that keen on hairy men either.

sometimes i think guys think like this:

"these are smooth legs, mama(society) teaches me that good girls have smooth legs, smooth legs also = sex.

mmm no hair = good girl, good girl = sex, sex = reason for living."

and women follow with their own screwed heads.

when i have hair on my legs, i like to keep it clean and soft. i treat it like my head hair or my skin. i mean, c'mon, there's nothing inherently nasty about it at all.

so, snaptic aether, "armpit hair on westernized society is nasty, imo, because of our diets, we stink bad, and armpit hair holds scent like it's the reason it's there"
i'm just curious, but do you feel like it's ok to have leg hair in western society, just not pit hair??? maybe i missed your point...

    oh ok ya

i think it's ok to have any hair in any society... i'm not really saying any shoulds or shouldn'ts, just theorizing on why we feel those shoulds or shouldn'ts

just expressing how i feel about it... pit hair, that is.

i used to have pit hair.. but i hated how clean i had to keep it so it didn't smell really bad (to me). it wouldn't be so bad if i could keep up a natural diet(raw foods, not much beef). i know people who have had incredibly natual diets for longer than 2 months and they never wore deorderant and their b.o. wasn't "offensive" at all.

I can't believe that this is where the hippies hang out, where if someone talks about breaking social conditioning and respecting the natural human body, what do half the people want? Oh let me be normal and do what Mommy and Cosmopolitan magazine tell me!

Of those women from the college Hairy Women's Club, I wonder how many stuck with it and how many surrendered to the hairless hordes. It's nice to think that there's still a local fashion, anyway.

oh, ok, i got ya sis!
i am one of those people who doesn't subscribe to the 'typical' american diet. i eat whole foods, mostly organic, & no meat. & the only time i get a little stinky is during a certain week in the month when i'm a little more hormonally charged ;)
i still don't find that i can go w/o deoderant totally, but i use only natural stuff. i agree with what you said...if you're gonna let it grow, you got to make an extra point to keep clean (as long as you're operating within this society at least). i mean, hey, when you're in the woods, body odor can be a plus, fending off lots of unwanted pests for ya!!! lol
thanks for sharing your opinions in an open, honest, & non-aggressive manner...i'm new to the forums & am really loving these discussions :)

As I recall, (pardon me if my history knowledge isn't right) women shaving armpits and legs only started about 80 yrs. ago (not long in the grand scheme of things), during the 1920's. Women have been sporting hair for a VERY long time then...it is amazing how cultural "norms" seem to become so rigid in so short a period of time!! I respect anyone's decision as far as what they want to do with their own body hair, but, as for me, HAIR ROCKS!! Love hairy armpits, legs, pubes, heads (smile!) whatever...each person has to express as they choose, no matter what they choose...

I'm with you on this, except maybe with heads...I might shave mine...But that's beside the point. Pubeless genitals look so...unfriendly. I just can't stand the feeling right after one has shaved; the itching is horrendous, and, if you don't use enough water, it bleeds. Plus, there is so much hair on the human body; clearly it was not meant to be shaved.

    Big smile!!

I've known some hairy ladies with shaved heads...looked great on them, and they enjoyed the ease of it all...no brushing!! I guess it's all about what makes each person happy...good luck if you decide to shave yours, Bocks!! :)

I dont see it as fashion Amontillado. I dont flash it about and i dont hide it. I just dont shave. I treat my body the same as i did when i did shave.

I started shaving because i was never taught different. It was what women did. Before i even had leg hair i would play with my toys in the bath and PRETEND i was shaving in mimic of my mum. Only now do i find it more appealing to not be hairy. I see it as a part of growing up.

im hoping to teach my child that the choice is THERES what they want to do.

yeah, it's not fashion for me either. deciding to quit shaving was something that went hand in hand with other changes i was making in my life at the time, changes that were leading me to a more natural lifestyle.
like you, fleassy, i was never taught anything different. when i was a young girl, i dreamed of shaving b/c that's what teenagers & women did. for me, it was something that signified 'growing up'...little did i know, it would actually be a colossal pain in the ass!
i really admire your desire to teach your children that the choice is theirs to make. living in the southern us at that point in time (& even today), i don't think most people even know another way exists. not shaving is still considered VERY VERY out of the norm & even disguisting, repulsive, etc. i have faced LOTS of negative reactions

I went to college in Colorado, then a while in a small town in Wyoming, and then in lived for about two years in Texas (Dallas & suburbs), and I can't remember anyone ever commenting on my not shaving. Yes most people did, but if I didn't, fine... and I don't think it was because I am European. My English is quite good (if I may say so :)), sometimes people asked what state I was from if they didn't recognise my accent... although I pick up accents real quick too -so much that people sometimes think I'm making fun of them, even though I don't mean it that way, I just copy accents automatically. But I'm drifting off-topic :) anyways I didn't get any negative comments on it, no questions 'don't y'all shave', no 'we do it this way', nothing whatsoever. Until I saw the posts here on Hipforums I hadn't really realised it was a big deal anywhere.
