    Not in my mind.
Washington woods have all kinds of nasty pricklys to step on so I wear slip on sandals while nude.

Check out my nudist camp at lakebronson.com

I'd never realised there was a barefooted movement - glad to hear there is though. I'd walk about barefeet all day if I could.

You're not going to drag any germs into a store with bare feet that you wouldn't with shoes. It's a ridiculous argument. People who are against bare feet keep using the same lame arguments. They've been programmed by society to be against bare feet and haven't even thought about what they've been trained to think.

You're not going to pick up diseases either unless you deliberately step in manure or live in a 3rd world setting that has problems with sewage.

True; I mean, they could install foot washes outside of stores. The floor wouldn't even be half as dirty as it is if this were the case. I mean, there's no motivation to wash your shoes unless you step in something like manure or mud; you're more prone to wash your barefeet as you are self-concious of what's on them.

I suppose that the arugement with that though would be that shoes, and socks, act as barriers from germs and dirt. Not that I'm saying that's my point of view.

What? Shoes house fungus and tons of bacteria dude; ever wonder why people who wear shoes get athlete's foot and have really smelly feet? When your barefoot, the dirt you collect on your soles acts as the barrier between germs and what not and a quick rinse removes that barrier and all the germs on it. You never wash your shoes (assuming that you wear them inside) before entering your house unless they have mud or something else on them; meaning you carry whatever germs you picked up on the bottom of your shoes with you.

Barefeet are healthier, shoed feet are more protected against injury and cold/heat; it's more of a personal choice of comfort.

And isnt it such heaven to walk barefooted?

Really, if everyone tried doing this, the floors would be cleaner, as we would be more careful as to what we litter/spit/put on them.

I've read a bunch of posts here talking about how you can bring in bacteria and what not if you are barefoot, and that's part of the reason that you can't go into stores. My response, WTF? It doesn't matter if you have shoes on or barefoot, or even walking on your hands, if you touch the ground or any surface you will get germs on you (now I'm not saying germs are bad, you have to build up immunities somehow, not through vaccinations though) I do however agree that in some places it would be best to wear flip flops or something because of glass and whatever.

so, I think I'll start going barefoot more often, any good ways to toughen up my squishy soft bare feet, I used to be able to walk across gravel just fine when I was a little kid but I can't anymore because it hurts too much. also, is it easier to wade across rivers when you have built up calluses (is that spelled right?)

i started walking barefoot in public places three years ago. right now, i cant wait in spring to get off shoes ans start barefooting in march or april, when the weather is ok (which can be a problem in berlin where i live, but anyway...), and i stop a little bit later each year. maybe i can do it until october this year. nothing compares to touching the surfaces and feel the ground. the skin of the bottoms of my feet feel like leather now only one or two weeks after i start barefooting in spring.

first year i started brefooting, i thought people stared at me, especially at school. then a friend came to school for a few weeks whithout shoes as well, so they got used to us. now, nobody stares and i dont get comments on that anymore, i guess they would rather comment me on wearing shoes. but that wont happen in summer, because i dont own any summer shoes anymore :p
