Me too, if I get an incorrectly spelled work email or memo, I can't take that person seriously, I mean really... they are at work and they can't even use spellcheck?!
Funny, I dont even give people that use the wrong "your" a second thought. Maybe its because I always just use "your" being anyone with half a brain (especially the people correcting it...after all they cant correct you unless they know which one you meant) knows the message you are trying to convey. I do agree that business email should have all the t's crossed and i's dotted.
It matters. When a 5 year old hands me a note or card that is poorly spelled, it is so cute because they are learning. If an adult hands me the same thing, it's just sad, because they haven't learned a damn thing.
My kids write me notes all the time. They write things on the grocery list, they make me birthday cards. Why is that even a question?
thats just shitty of you especially if you are on a computer with internet access, doesnt take but a minute to look up the correct spelling.
^^I agree. Why would you take greater care in an email or a memo, than you would on the internet? And in answer to "as long as the message gets across who cares?", that begs the question. The best way to get the message across is to state it clearly and legibly. And no, I can't type at all well. I use 2 fingers only. But I am polite to the readers of my posts (assuming I have any) and take the time and care to type my message in a language that they can comprehend. After all, it isn't as if typing "me n mah peeps went 2 this gr8 bar" takes any less time or effort than "me and my friends went to this great bar". Especially when every kid from 3 up knows how to find and use a spellchecker.
