ack! im american but i am living in germany with my german husband. we are not expecting.. but do plan on having children in the future.. im totally freaked out to hear there are laws here about names.... does that count even when one parent comes from america? since i am american for example, would i be allowed to name my child summer?not that i want to though it is a very nice name. anyway, we have also had a problem figuring out what names would sound good in english and german since the pronunciation is so different. so far .. if a girl.. maybe helena or olivia.. and if a boy julias and as a middle name to julias.. till .. like till eulenspiegel but not after him. anyway, i hope those names would be acceptable here. my hubby also likes the name leonard.. as is pronounced in german but in english it sounds a little too errrrrrrry at the end lol. in german it sounds cool like " lay oh nahrd" i like the name gabriel but he doesnt so much .. heh oh well.. we are still looking. pretty names you all have mentioned.
There are British girls called that too I used to like my name because it was different but now it sort of annoys me because it's quite common. If anyone picks a hippie name they seem to pick Summer as one of the choices. Flattering, hehe, but I've heard of a lot of other people called Summer so it's not that original. Also, whoever mentioned Summy as a nickname, aaaaaahhhh! My teacher used to call me that!!! I hated it. Lol. My full name is Summer Aurora Marie, a few years ago I considered being just plain Marie but decided against it. A tip from someone with an untraditional name- try to give them at least one traditional middle name cause the kid may not want to stand out. Summer. xx.
My soul daughter's name is Gracie May. It's country sounding but I like that combo for her when/if I have children, I will name them Anystaczia Marie Layla Annabelle Lorretta Marie Samantha Re'Chelle Yossarian Christopher Alexander Jameson Samuel Antonin
My son's name is Jacob Allen. We have been kicking around a few names for the next baby... If it is a boy, we like: Andrew Keith Isaiah Matthew and if it's a girl, we like: Ireland June Grace Rosemary Ashely Christine
