Ahhh college kids. When will they learn that you can't be snarky all the time or people will just say 'that's a college kid for you' instead of 'wow, that's very insightful'? Maybe never. Anyway, I resisted this movie for the longest time and when I saw it, I gotta admit, I thought it was awesome. It wasn't original, the characters were maybe two steps above developmentally delayed, and whatever... but it had the MAGIC that makes you love movies... the environments were incredible, the action was intense, and it was shot perfectly. I wouldn't say it made me think, but at least its heart seemed to be in the right place... most people hate it when films are too demanding anyway...
This week I got the 3-disc Extended DVD. With the added scenes a lot of backstory was fleshed out and it made it seem like a whole new movie. Like the scenes of Jake on Earth as a crippled Marine doin' his thing in the bars. And more bovine type animals being hunted on Pandora explains how Jake thot himself a mean aerial hunter. I liked it all over again, even after seeing the theatrical release about a dozen times in various forms.
This is good to hear. I think I'll buy this on Blu-Ray when I brave the crowds on Black Friday. =D Maybe I can get a deal! =D

i will chance a necro post here i finally got around to watching this movie worst piece of crap yet from cameron....the flying dragons in ''dragon tales'' was better than the flying scenes in this hunk of crap....and the man inside the huge robot was much better in men in black where it was stolen from i knew it was all hype and no content.....cgi piece of crap
Then better take cover, as more crap is about to hit the fan (according to your opinion about it - everyone's entitled to one, of course), since Cameron is starting to shoot the sequels (back-to-back) this September... However, the people who liked it, will actually be happy about this. Wiggling bare toes, ~*Ganesha*~
Avatar is a decent enough movie but not even in my Top 50. Also people who watch bootlegs online are idiots. The idea that watching a crap copy, often with an elapsed time counter running at the bottom on a small laptop screen is offering as much of the movie experience as watching a movie on a mammoth screen with Dolby sound in a theater with other people is like someone watching a football game on an old 1970's tube TV vs seeing the game on a 60" HD Plasma TV. There is no comparison.
