i did that a few times in my old truck which had a manual transmission, and no power steering... didn't do it around corners, obviously.
No kidding. I need my hands for the cell phone, my left knee to control the steering wheel, and my toes on the right leg to punch the buttons on the GPS unit. .
I Was Just About to Make A Smart Ass Comment As To How You Could Get Your Right Leg To Do That, Then I Realised You Live In One Of Those Countries That Drive On The "Wrong Side" Of The Road..... Explains Everything..... Cheers Glen.
Actually, you're wrong. You had it right the first time. I just use my legs in ways that people can't imagine. .
an automatic is one less distraction when fighting traffic, but not what someone who knows how to do so gets the best use out of when climbing hills out in the boonies, where cars (in the more practical form of light trucks and vans) belong, which in cities, if people who live in cities were smart and sane, they don't. every dollar spent on gas IS a vote for war for oil. which i realize is for a lot of people a kind of catch 22, because of the more usual inadequacy of public transportation in the western hemisphere do to economic interest's control of governments.
Variators are pretty neat. I think they were used on Fiats and a few other makes in the 80s. They're used on some mopeds, scooters, and gocarts. Simpler design than a conventional automatic. .
dave bought tyler a jeep yesterday. it's pretty sweet. tyler has to relearn how to drive a stick and that a jeep doesn't corner like the $70k truck his other parents let him drive. and since, ultimately, it's still dave's, dave's gonna do some work on it.
I can drive both, but I prefer a manual tranny for winter driving. I currently own an automatic, and I've heard that soon there will be only automatic available...
Automatic cars are for girls. I can drink coffee, smoke weed, and do whateva as I am using stick. I couldn't imagine how lame driving would be if I had an automatic.
It just goes to show how lazy and wasteful we are on this side of the world...the other side prefers manual and diesel
My new Subie has a manual option but no clutch. I can switch it over and control what gear I'm in. I don't really use it but it's nice to have, I think.
Is it like the 1 2 3 OD in an automatic, or is it something different? Chicks driving standards is kinda hot.
Both of those, yes. Being capable is great. Opening mustard jars for girls is more tedious than sweet. It's also great to be reminded of her working on my junk while she's driving. Speaking of which, I know people say they can eat while driving a standard... has anyone ever gotten frisky while driving a stick?
