Turn your taps on to a slow drip to keep your pipes from freezing up.
Consider making soups & broths to stretch your supplies.
    Good luck!

Luckily, the weather won't be cold enough to freeze pipes.

Just before 9AM, I had a small limb drop onto the roof. It freaked me out. I thought I had more time before I had to worry about trees.

Its snowing like crazy here but its going to turn into ice later. We have gas heaters that don't run off electricity at all so we'll be okay if the power goes out. I am a little woried about our food supply, we have food but its mostly meat and veggies. I guess I'll just be munching on some raw veggies for a couple of days. The roads aren't supposed to clear here until friday

I think the "silver lining" to the previous storm is that they are being proactive this time and people are staying home and safe. It will probably save lives. You really don't want to fool around with Mother Nature.

    I had a small snit-fit a few minutes ago.

My daughter (28) was talking about letting a friend come and pick her up in the car. Hubs (54) was not helping me discourage this.

I was fuming to myself about it when I realized that I'd been letting the dog lick her wound and undo all her healing!

So, I yelled at both of them, lol

I think we all have a better understanding now.

It's too damn soon to go bat shit crazy here.

Little early for cabin fever to set in.

I suggest a bit of meditation.

Believe me, I feel for all the folks in Atlanta... We know the all the disasters and hardships that come with snow and ice up this way... Its been a rough run since Hurricane Sandy and it seems like it hasn't let up- -now they,re predicting another foot of ice/snow starting around midnight tonight..
Im gonna go get some a few supplies (mostly pizza & beer) and batan down the hatches yet again - -
    be safe

    So far - so good!

    Meaning we still have power.

We will manage. If we all can be mature around here...that's a big IF.

There are two middle aged people here with pretty big attitudes.

There's a 43 year old hanging out with the 28 year old. They are getting antsy sitting still - wanting to act like teenagers.

There's a 6 year old boy who needs to be entertained.

Two Pit Bulls and 3 cats.

This is a small 3 bedroom house.

    Pray for us, lol.

Lights are blinking but we're fighting it with alcohol, music, and dance.

All's well at my house. Some power blinking this morning but we're still up and running.

You may have dodged the bullet this time.

Last night, CNN was trying to make a big deal out of traffic problems in Raleigh NC, but the only gridlock footage they could find was from an older section of the outer beltway (west side) that everyone should avoid during a snowstorm. They got it cleared in just a couple hours. Our other big cities only had scattered accidents and abandoned vehicles here and there.

The whole middle section of the state has been getting snow and sleet almost continuously for the last 23 hours. Out my window, I've seen more snowplows than cars. Yesterday's dry snow made some monster drifts in spots, including a two and a half foot drift in front of my front door. Today's snow has been wet and sticky.

It's a good day for watching ice skating on TV. :coffee: :)

We've had the power off for 3 days. I'm visiting family now. They have power.

I hope your power comes back on soon. Not a fun situation.
