It's 5 pm right now. We're expecting 1.5 inches of snow to fall starting at 3 am. Trucks are already out. That's how you do it, Atlanta.
My thoughts were with you and others in Atl, Aeri. That was a pure mess that began with the best of intentions. (Yeah, isn't that the beginning of the path to hell? lol) Anyway, about the snow driving...I know my limitations, and I would NOT even consider getting on a road with snow/ice (such as the "small" amount that was in GA and SC) unless it was for a child...and then I would have to be the last resort. I was scheduled to go to work Wed. It had snowed here Tues and throughout the night although it did stop Wed around dawn. It wasn't thick, but very slippery underneath...I live in the country and have to navigate hills, valleys, and curves to get to work. Also a couple of small bridges. My life and car are more important than a job. I really feel for people that NEED their job and feel forced to go through what I would consider conditions that I could not go through. I wasn't scheduled but for 3 days this week, that being the 3rd day. Even though I explained I couldn't even get out of the drive, they still really expected me to go...
Lol, I'm not sure if that's a true description of what's going on in that pic but someone said that it was.
Someone told me today that the city of Atlanta has 16 trucks. http://www.ajc.com/news/news/local/gridlock-continues-as-unspeakably-horrible-commute/nc53m/

it isn't nature that's the mess, its the city in the way of it. mud trucks for sueth. and cars do NOT belong in cities either. um, i mean the SECOND vid on the page. TWO EFFING INCHES, OH MY GAHD! (daily show segment "south parked".
Video transcript provided by Newsy.com This week's wild weather across the south of the U.S. has raised a controversial question online: was it just a light snow, or a nefarious government conspiracy? It was definitely just snow. But the last few days have seen scores of videos like this from skeptics who claim the snowflakes aren't the real deal. "I have a sample of 'snow' ... leaving the snow unmelted." (Via YouTube / sugar magnolia) The conspiracy reasoning goes like this: the snow is unusual in Georgia and other southeast areas and doesn't melt when burned. Therefore, it must be fake snow, distributed by the government, as a diversion from big government tyranny: (Via YouTube / Div9neImages) "You're being distracted from all fronts, you're preoccupied. They're up here signing bills, the government, to pretty much take away more of your rights and freedoms." (Via YouTube / Occult Sin) Many of these videos have racked up thousands of views online — though, presumably, not everyone who watches this believes the whole fake weather thing. Some skeptics tie the fake snow to a wider, and older, conspiracy regarding "geo-engineering" and the fear that the government is manipulating weather to use as a weapon. (Via The Resistance Journals) Anyway, as you might expect, the fake government snow craze is pure paranoia. Science-savvy reporters and experts have been quick to point out that snow doesn't melt when exposed to open flame like this.
Just to clarify something....at one point i said my city doesn't bother clearing the roads of an inch of snow but then I said we had trucks out hours before we were expecting 1.5 inches of snow. What I meant was that the city doesn't always bother to clear the city streets but our county and state trucks do get out there on the highways in advance. Shitty service by the city at times.
Like I get that they don't usually get snow... but even if you're really unprepared for snow, I don't get what 2 inches of snow does.... I mean if you got 2 feet and had no snow removal ready, then I get how it could be a problem, but like you don't even need snow tires on 2 inches... I don't get it.
The thing is Hedge', that snow melts down to a thin layer and freezes when the sun goes down, plus most have no experience driving on the shit. Add to that no one wants to slow down, especially the 4x4's and suvs, they think they are fucking invincible.
