If the North Koreans had over the years grown into a society that doesn't really believe in god as those in western Europe are doing, then it'd be refreshing, but when it's state enforced atheism though like in Albania. Why does North Korea have atheism, it's been a constant through history, devotion to a god or certain religious belief can undermind the rulling leaders. Owning a bible is not only illegal in North Korea, but some defectors from the country have said it can be punished by death. Is this the kind of atheism that is good for the world?

And Juche as a whole has destroyed North Korea.

As it did not exist before that time it could not be a 'constant through
history' Before 1946 korea was one place. And soon it will be again.

If I was rich and powerful, I would have whole bunch of toilet paper manufactured with Kim Jong's face printed on every sheet. Then I would get planes to air drop millions of them over North Korea. I'd probably also put some food in the boxes and little radio's set to a free thinking broadcast station in South Korea.

If I had to hang a picture of George Bush or Canada's dick head equivalent, Stephen Harper on my wall I'd have to put a bucket underneath to catch all my spit.

 

North Korea as a political state didn't exist before then, but the people and culture were still there for a long time and up to 1946(and North Korea was actually established as a state in 1948) confucianism and budduism were dominant in North Korea(Korea as a whole for that matter) and ironically while it's now South Korea that has a rather large Christian population, before the war Christian activity was strongest in the north, Pyongyang was called the Jerusalem of the East, almost 1/6 of its population was Christian. And I'm not saying just Christianity, but religion as a whole the government sees as a problem, but Christianity is heavily associated with the western world and of the United States.

And trust me, Korea will not be a single state again anytime soon, aside from the current political differences, it will be decades at least before the North Korean economy would be strong enough to allow for union with the south.

All worship goes to the Dear Leader, Excellency Kim Jong Il and his father's principles of Ju Che, or Self-Reliance. North Korea lives under the strictest perversion of Maxism with the iron fist of Stalinist repression. They have suffered 4 years of destructive typhoons or droughts/nationwide crop failures in the last 10. Children who are 6-10 years old suffer from malnutrition so severe that they resemble 18 month old toddlers. Citizens are defecting to Russia, Japan and South Korea in record numbers, even soldiers are laying down their weapons and braving the minefields of the DMZ for the freedom of the south. Syd got one thing right, North Korea isn't likely to collapse until the nations coffers are empty and they've made one last deperate run at the south.

And through it all, the pain, the siffering, the starvation, the death, the cold walls of a prison, some would sacrifice all that they are to worship Christ. THAT is faith. But what do I know, I'm just a heathen myself.
