Aspergers R Us

My therapist has suggested that I have a mild case of aspergers. I have problems picking up on social queues, and have a knack for making most situations socially awkward. Most of the time I don't care about said social queues, or simply forget, but I can pick up on so much more than verbal communication.

It's very hard to put into words, since it operates in the absence of words, but most of the times it manifests as just a "knowing" about another person, like I can fully emphathise with them and run through their situation in my head, effectively "becoming" them. It's very surreal, and like your memory for verbal communication, it freaks people out, mostly when they have an ulterior motive, as I am quite adept on picking up on what people might want from me.

I have no real idea how this might happen, my rational mind wants to write it off as my becoming very good at reading body language, but at times, it goes far beyond that. I know things that shouldn't be obvious to most people, but it's clear as day to me, and it's weirded out more people than I could count.

Edit: the spiritual part of me wants to say that this is all easily explained, if you consider the massive amount of interconnectedness between all Beings.

 

I could be wrong, but I think this isn't really the case with mild autism, and I think even so, very autistic people can be fucking geniuses... Could be wrong though.

But anyone can be a genius, there's just some mental conditions that make it more likely to focus your particular talents in particular ways.

 

While autistic savants are very interesting, it seems like most of the skills they possess are, while fascinating, pretty useless.

Being in tune socially is very important. I live with a girl with high-functioning Asperger's and a lot of people don't like her because she's very annoying, which I think is the result of not having a sense of what's socially appropriate and not knowing how to get people to like you. She's high-functioning but she's not particularly smart, high-functioning just means an IQ above 70. But she reads a lot and she's good at providing interesting facts about things.

 

I like to think that functioning properly in society is a pretty useless skill.

People who read a lot and have lots of facts are called up all the time on chat shows to explain to IDIOTS. what is going on.
