The guy for whom I painted this scene from Australia bought the original from me. I guess I can quit my day job and become a starving artist now!
You've definitely got a nice hand for it, what is it water colours or crayons or pastels? This is my favourite one so far, they get better as you follow the thread.
Jesus man my eyes deceived me for a second and I thought that was an actual photograph! And the one in your siggie pic reminds me of some of the sparse countryside around the west coast of scotland. Sometimes the composition seems a bit fragmented, like some of the objects could be fridge magnets holding the drawing up, but I guess you know that and seem to be making a steady improvement throughout the course of the thread which is how long I don't know really.. I like the one with the pink tree that looks like it is floating, sometimes the fragmentedness is a virtue. Go more surreal and experimental with it is my aspiration for you. I did a few sketches 9 years ago in India and they're not as detailed but have some interesting ideas in them, I'll post some up soon. Best of luck to you man, I think you are a great artist.
Thanx McLeod. I appreciate the feedback. Its all watercolor. I really enjoy painting.I've sold a few, and have all of my art for sale on a web site found on my profile. I've been commissioned to do a few. Would love to see the sketches you did. As for more surreal, I'm beginning to lean that way. I'm not sure about me being a "great" artist. I've had little formal training, and there are many people who are much better than me. Thanks for the compliment, though. It helps to have feedback like this.
I love your art Dutch, I have said it before, but I wanna say again, you have a really good style, very very nice to observe and it emanates a very good vibe, peaceful.. I am happy to see art like this with such good vibe I really like the painting I quoted of you, I don't know if the smeared line was intentional, but for me it adds tons, it adds for me a kind of mystical or magical quality Keep going :sunny:
YonKat, the line was intentional. The photo I used had a ray of sunlight where the line is shown. Thanks again. Thank you, LoneWolf.
I've begun to paint old scenes from the mining industry. My goal is to donate some to the Society of Mining Engineers for their fundraising activities. I got one done over the weekend, and started another. I'm really excited about the one I started. Most of my paintings take 4 to 5 hours. I worked 12 hours on it yesterday, and I'm a little over half done.
My signature pic is the one that I finished over the weekend and that I intend to donate. This one also was finished over the weekend.
I really love the mine worker piece. You seem to continuously get better, which is a complete compliment because the earlier stuff you had posted is awesome:afro:
I got a couple of works done last week. The first is a painting of a woman by the beach. The second is a sketch of my dad before he died.
My Christmas Painting. Shepherds keeping their watch by night, when myriads of angels arrive to announce the birth of the Savior.
I love the one with the dog and the one with the woman. I've read your other post and I, too, am interested in selling prices for artwork. 20$ for a print sounds rather much, I've never envisaged getting that much money for my stuff.
