uumm ooo am i a hippy? hmmm thats a tricky 1...yeesss but then a bit noooooo.

if i wore flares and tiedye t-sirts would i be a hippy.. then no im not a hippy.

if smoking a fair amount of pot and walkin around in bare feet makes me a hippy.... then yes occasionally i can be swayed toward hippydom.

if holding some incredible pollitical standpoint in which i've never really delved into or have much knowledge of makes me a hippy.. then errrrmmm no .

if enjoying nature and feeling the presence of the earth and being able to smile at the most trivial things just becuse they in their own right are just as beautiful as evrything else. and knowing that the only thing that upsets the well being of the planet and all this beauty is it's immenent destruction by the human race, in its wars and over developement, and hoping that a "make love not war" attitude may sway others to adopt a similar view..... then yup im a big smelly hippy.

well thats 2 outa 4 for being a hippy.. gosh darn it.. still not decided.

right.... when i said "... incredible pollitical standpoint in which I'VE never really delved into ..." i meant meeeeee not as a reference to any1 else.. you got the wrong end of the stick im affraid hunny. but it was ambiguous and i did think that some1 was gonna take it like that but i thought ... well.. bollocks i'll write it anyway

Do you have to be right in the middle of something / have experienced it first hand to know it is wrong or right?

Or do you see things that are wrong and cruel and just decide to not accept it whether it affects you directly or not?

Well I've never been to San Francisco or even worn flowers in my hair, in fact nowadays my hair never gets past a number 1. Also haven't done any drugs since I nearly killed myself with all the wrong ones over 17 years ago. So if any of that makes you a hippy then I'm definitely not one.

But I do own a flowery yellow Volkswagen, a pair of sandals, second hand tibeten clothes, a tie dyed sarong, a Che Guevara flag, a bottle of patchouli oil and a shit load of 70's music.

Politically I support issues that respect this world (Oh and I still like Hawkwind)

I guess I'm just a me with hippy tendencies :p

well no i dont have to be right in the middle of it to decide if its right or wrong... i can do that form at least 100 feet away and with 1 eye closed. i see plights everyday, and when i do i act upon it in a manner befitting my psycological mindset at the time.
if something big kicks off like a war... i'll protest against it,
if something like the winchester park and ride/ water meadows thing happens... then i'll protest about that too,
if the bastard andover council closes down our theatre for no real reason.. then i'll protest about that aswell
there is so much pain and hurt in the world, that i would be a fool to think i can have an impact on all of it.. so i take my time and deal with it when it comes, in what ever way i feel would be the appropiate way.
this may seem a little self centered but it the only way i feel i can feasably deal with the amount of situations that need support.

now i think that makes sense( does in my head) but if it doesn't then well just forget you ever read it

I think that back in the day (early-mid 90's) there was a lot of the hippy movement stuff going on in the rave scene but when it got taken over and merchandised (as happens to every counter culture) it just turned into the late 90's excuse for club music, this was contributed to far too much by DJ's like the Rat Pack (DJ Ratty, MC Conrad and many other happy hardcore weirdoes) and the larger Ibiza club DJ's (Pete Tong etc.).

The movement then only really existed as a tiny microcosm of what it should have been until R&B (SHITE!!) took over in the early 2000's at which point 'Dance' music has been all but pushed into the fringes of society. The only place you can go to hear proper dance music these days in a warehouse party which are few and far between but the progress in the music itself is brilliant, it takes a bit from the charty rubbish that gets shoved down your throat but at the same time it's also a grown up version of what we were listening to in the early 90's (I'm only 24 so I wasn't round before that).

Another problem with the rave scene is the drugs, ok I partake myself but I only ever buy from someone I trust these days where as back in the 90's I would have bought from pretty much anyone at a rave. Either I'm just not as naive as I once was or drug dealers have just got more and more shady as time goes on. or both...

I also haven't been to a warehouse party with police security and ambulances on standby for years, used to happen all the time back in the day and there was an unspoken 'I'll leave you alone if you leave me alone' agreement going on which worked pretty well for everyone there, now if I saw the police turning up I'd drop my stash and run a mile!
