Are there any occupations/professions that you violently dislike, so much that..

I also noticed it really depends on the individual (here at least) what a cop or soldier or even an authority figure's mindset is. Yes, there is a stereotypical one but it doesn't seem to hold up. A lot of them are in it for different reasons.
I do have a friend who's in the military. He's involved with communication systems. I don't see the point of disliking him for his job. I do find him annoyingly materialistic and selfish sometimes. But would that be different if he had a different job? :p

I only avoid people that I think could harm me. That's why I don't like picking up sketchy hitchhikers. Maybe I've watched too many movies about serial killers. Also, anyone carry an AK-47 or similar weapon such as drug lords and pirates.

i wish it were like that here

you can tell how they think of themselves here when one dies...its not just a simple death like the "regular" little people...they have to make a big show and news stories of course about how we lost another GOD..and of course the taxpayers have to shell out for elaborate funerals and travelling expenses for other cops who didnt even know the dead one to attend the funeral

ive never understood the big deal some people make about dead cops /firemen and military...it was their choice to take that job (military is a choice in my country) ..that guy supporting his family by driving the tow truck puts his life on the line so many times when helping people and what kind of funeral does he get?

There seems to be a strong consensus in this thread against law enforcement officers. Can't disagree. All the ones I've met personally have been jerks.

Another one I thought of this afternoon... plastic surgeons! I would constantly worry that he was studying me, thinking about all the things he would like to change.

I've talked to more than one retired cop that doesn't like the way LEO's are being trained in the US, because it's no longer about 'serve and protect'... Plus more and more, marine trained, 'high and tight' haircut mo'fo's coming right out of the middle east and on to US streets as cops, PTSD and all.

    Hello,

jepp, I think so. Ad hoc I can remember only two personal 'encounters' with cops. The first was in primary school when the cops came to school and inspected our bicycles. The second was some years ago in Belgium. A cop told me very politely that's not a good idea to cross a street while the king is roaming the streets to visit his subjects ;). On the other hand an arabic looking colleague of mine can tell a new police story every few weeks. Hmm.

    A smilling cop ;):

PS: Oh, I forgot the times when this war on terror craze started and they placed cops with MPs in the major train stations...

    Hello,

    ;)

I got a sticker from the cops because my brakes and light worked and I survived the 30 minutes ride in a village with virtually no cars ;).

    Regards

well i don't judge anyone on the bases of what they get suckered into having to do for a living. but there are certainly positions created by the backwardheadedness of the dominant culture that we could certainly be living in a safer, happier AND more gratifying world without.

you know, things like the design and manufacture of weapon systems for example.

and definately "military contractors" (which were once upon a time refered to by the somewhat more open and simple term of mercinaries)

i don't outright despise military, but i certainly wonder why they join a known corrupt war mongering organization that kills innocents.

some want the benefits that come later.....be taught a trade or skill that they could not have afforded otherwise.....and some just came to this country and want the respect it is promised to gain along with what else I mentioned......
For some, I understand, there are not alot of options.....

I met a few military guys that were certified citizens here, born here, and had many opportunities to do lots of things...had the smarts to do anything...and just wanted to be able to kill legally. I think of a son that came here to mow the grass here one year with his dad, and pretended to shoot squirrels and other things he saw on this property. Those types sicken me.

plenty of people are poor or have few options- but some have enough sense and value life and peace enough to know better than join the war machine. no one is putting a gun to their head- at least not at the moment. i have the good sense that i'd rather starve, rather try anything else, than become one of those.
