are 'social crushes' for real?

I read this thread a few weeks ago and didnt post but thought that social crushes don't really exist. I changed my mind because I now have a complete platonic crush on a friend of mine and he feels the same. Like we love it when we go to a party and the other person happens to be there because then we spend the whole thing together, but we aren't really good enough friends to hang out every day. We both have significant others and love them but I feel like a i have a schoolgirl crush when i think about him, but there's nothing romantic or sexual about it. I think we need new relationship definitions.
