So you have such a contempt and hate for yourself...(guilt?)...that you come to a site where you know you will be villified. Does that not trouble you deeply? It's a symptom of something grieviously ill in the soul. I do agree with you that there are many like you, at my age I have contended with many similarly afflicted souls. The democracy you rail about is without doubt a flawed thing...yet I'll take it over other forms of "government". You are also somewhat right about a lack of structure...I actually thrive on Chaos. It keeps me nimble, vigilant and ready for what comes next. Please stay here in these forums, stay with at least a modicum of hope. Hope for a world that isn't as bleak and damned as you think it is. Be aware that someone may slip a kindness toward you, someone might put a bit a salve on your hurt soul. Don't run from that when it happens...it could be an epiphany. I could tell you much about the nobility of the people you so sadly discount...you can't know that yet though...you haven't learned to see that nobility. You only see poverty or difference. There is a wild and joyous freedom in life when you drop the structure of dogma and actually live life. When was the last time you were joyous? When was the last time you laughed from the innocent soul of a child?

Drug addicts... Well, this is something that is an issue of perspective. Most of my FRIENDS and neighbors could be considered as "addicts" Alcohol, pain pills, etc. So this is something that is just a matter of degrees. The biggest issue is determining just what you are willing to deal with and what you aren't. Honesty is best when allowing someone to hang for a while. Let them know right upfront what you can accept and what won't work for you. We have thrown out obnoxious drunks and geekers, and crack heads. You MUST have "house rules" when allowing acquaintances and strangers to stay on your land and in your space, for your own protection. And also, it's best to not just let folks have access to your home if you are not going to be there, unless you are certain they can be trusted not to rip you off. Those things are only common sense.

 

Hey everybody, Max has been hangin' here on the forums for a while now. I've read a tremendous number of his posts. I think he's managed to piss off at least 98% of the posters on hipplanet. He does it on purpose, of course. Yea, we pretty much all agree he's either an idiot or mentally ill. Just the type to go into politics! So, I suppose be glad he's here, no matter what his deranged opinions are. We NEED to see first hand and understand just how the mind of a politician can work, and what we are up against as a people. We can all hope that he does not decide to become a policeman or run for president!

Of course anyone who hangs out regularly and on purpose in places where they get put down and verbally abused on a daily basis, and whose main desire is to create anger and agression has issues. I've watched this guy make folks dance like puppets on a string, bringing out the worst in all of us over and over. That is the problem, negativity is contageous, and the unpleasant generally creates more of same.

Max has portrayed himself as a college student studying politics. He appears to be from an ELITE family of doctors. Rich and spoiled and bored. Amazing that the child of doctors has such a disrespect for people and life. (Maybe this is a rebellion issue?) He thinks somehow that because he is in the minority, that makes him right. But the real unfortunate thing is that he has found a forum which is created for and frequented by a minority(hippys). So he is actually a minority within a minority. Does this make him even more right? Hardly, it just makes him more isolated from his fellow humans and from the reality that is real life. Sure, It's honorable to feel sorry for someone like that, and hope that someday they learn better. We can surely all agree that a person with those outlooks will eventually find themselves in some pretty shitty places in life, and unfortunately he will need to have some pretty harsh experiences in order to find his way out of the box he is trapped in. But, back to the subject of this thread, there are some things which are simply unacceptable when endevoring to help the poor and downtrodden, the travellers and others. People who want or need help must make themselves help-able and not "bite the hand that feeds them." And I am quite certain that if someone with an attitude such as Max's were to come along needing some help, that unless he changes his ways, most of us would ultimately end up putting him out. It's very unfortunate, but true.

 

I have an example,
I met this guy in san fran a few years back, took him back to hamilton canada with the rest of my tribe, he stayed, lived in my house for a year rent free, O hooked him up with folks to make some money, he ripped them off and brought down my name in my town, cause I introduced him and vouched for him.

I kept helping the guy thinking he just needs some love someone not to give up on him, as the time passed and he never showed up at the jobs I got him, he would borrow money not pay it back,
I payed off his debt , well gave him the money to pay it off, he said he payed ...never did....he wasnt an addict, but had all the characteristics of one.

he ended up stealing from me when I was at work, broke some bottles when he had a party....at my house, never told me nor cleaned it up....

I brought my kids over and my son picked up a piece of glass....
atthat point my kindness ended...though he still caused me grief, he hooked up with one of my friends, their still together, though he beat her up at x mas, gave her warts........

you know Ive never had that sort of experience before......I dont think it will end my kindness for others, though it does make me extrememly carefull from then on.

you need to help people who DO want to help themselves, more than words you have to see action or you really cant achieve much at all.

Are you kidding me? I am very well off financially, I don't have to pay a dime for my Post-Secondary education or for my apartment, and yes my parents pay for those things, and I know many people who would love to be in my position. I have a great social life, and unlike yours, it's quite clean. None of my friends are liberals or hippies, and get this, none of my friends care about poor bums.

P.S. Don't even try to come back with a " money doesn't buy you happiness " crap because I know money doesn't buy you happiness, but it sure helps.

 

You should meet my parents, you never will but I'm just saying, not all doctors are " ethical " and " moral ", my parents see homosexuality as a mental disorder and they both agree that if a child is going to be born with a defect it is better that child be aborted.

Now I'm against abortion, but there are exceptions, now you'd think a doctor would be all for the " people are people " crap, but no, doctors are highly educated individuals trained to cure and save people's lives, not be moral. My parents are all for stem cell research, but they're not liberal, they don't mix their profession with politics.

P.S. They were both educated in the Soviet Union, where there was no religion, this is why morals and ethics don't apply, it's all about doing the best you can do, as they say, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.
