you can spectulate all you want but as a black person, you never truly know who hates you just because of your skin color

there are plenty magical mushys out there and trust they don't tell you when they meet you that they hate you . they smile like everyone else and you have to watch their moves

we (black people and white people) have two completely different histories in this one country. because of that, there are gonna be differences between us.

think of the races as two children, one is well-fed, has his own room, is allowed to play outside with his friends; the other child is beaten, sleeps on a basement floor, eats only leftover scraps, if that, and works all day, never allowed to play

then when both children are 18 they are sent out into the world, do you really think that they are gonna think the same? feel the same about things? view the world the same? hell, no. there lives have shown them completely different things and what right does the well-fed child have to want the other child to be just like him? Isn't that arrogant and insensitive of him?

I don't know about anybody else but I don't wanna be like white people. I wanna be me and I don't wanna pretend to be like anyone else just so that white people will approve of me

You know, Fontella, you're a generalizing a bit there. Yes, a smaller amount of blacks are upper-middle class to upper class than are whites, but surely, especially at your age, you've had realized just how well-off a lot of blacks are these days. It's not like all blacks are oppressed anymore. If you grew up in the ghetto, but you wanted to get out badly enough, you'd be able to do so. If one can't get a loan these days, it's because he's got terrible credit or no credit,... not because he's black. Please let us not go down this politically correct "black people are so totally oppressed,... drop the whip mas'a" bullshit. The guilt trip has gotten old.

 

music man, you would have to paint yourself black and walk around to really know what it feels like to be black. Even if slavery days are long gone, people like your mom are still afraid of black people, and still treat them as second class citizens.

There are places that black people can´t even really go safely, in many places they are trapped in central city areas, and would likely be lynched if they left.....take cities like Seattle or Portland,Oregon, or the cities of Pennsylvania even.

Racism and prejudice go further than economics.

Speculation. I could say "people like your (black) mom...". Don't speculate and treat it like solid evidence of racism, please. I've been to Portland, there's as much anomosity towards whites by blacks in Oregon as there is whites against blacks, as it is the same everywhere in the country. This is not a sign of oppression.

Against my better judgement:

Not really. I've met a lot more overtly racist blacks than whites. The whites who're racist deep down and afraid to say it,... they will remain ambiguous and within the realm of speculation. The only people I pitty for being oppressed are those that were born into a poor family and to uneducated parents. By this and only this variable are they oppressed in today's world. And face it, black, white, hispanic, being born to poor and stupid parents happens to them all.

 

Yes, in biology you learn about the structures leading up to and that of humans. You should have learned by 6th grade what you apparently have missed. Genealogy would come much later,... if that's what you're getting at.

 

I agree, I´m not arguing that blacks have an innate right to claim they have a harder life, I´m simply stating that being a black (I´ve actually BEFRIENDED some in my day :O) brings along things that you wouldn´t expect...and causes scared white people to treat them in a certain way, causes white bitches to walk to the other side of the street, causes store owners to follow them around etc.
