I really dislike most television. The only times I watch it are when I am getting 'ready' in the morning. I like to put on the Today Show, because it reminds me of when I was a little kid and my Mom would have it on. I also watch MSNBC for about one hour a day (usually just the 4:00 p.m. Dylan Rattigan Show). Other than that, I keep it off. I hate having it on in the background. Most people can't stand silence and need to have the tube on, but I am the exact opposite. I can't really relax with a TV on!

People that watch tv are like drug addicts.I think it is very addictive. The more you watch ,the more you want to watch it.It becomes part of your whole life.In fact I think with the new digital cable and flat sceen tvs people try to schedule their free time around their favorite tv shows. It is pretty sad. Most peoples whole life is wasted watching millions of hours of tv. They should spend more time enjoying their own life.I have a saying for that GET A LIFE!

Hardly ever watch TV programming, because I don't want to be programmed. Probably watch less than 5 hours a month. Now this internet thing, however...I'm probably online for 60% of my waking hours. This is interactive, though...and I'm usually mining information.

If you have a strong mind you wont be affected by the crap in your face.. (That type of programming only affects robots)

i don't watch tv... some shows are good though, but yeah, it just doesn't seem trustworthy, don't like ads, nor the kind of things you see subtly trying to influence society culture, brainwash people...

flcl was a great show though, will never deny this eternal truth :)

I'm not sure if it makes me more intelligent, but over the years find myself watch less TV and spending more time on the internet. Think I need to get back into reading books.

I cut back on televison once I felt awakened to what is going on around me. I like to catch the news here and there, yet I read the paper more. Really, I haven't watched 1 hour of tv in months and haven't watched tv at all this past week. Books aren't censored the fuck out of, and don't have influential undertones everywhere. Also, we cannot let writers and artists and the whole craft of books and documentation die due to technology. TV just puts thoughts into my brain instead of giving me an idea that sparks many of my own thoughts.

No cable TV but I do watch Netflix. I try to minimize my time in front of the TV as much as possible.

I think TV is educational when you watch it with the right attitude.. it shows you how fucked up people are and how much they don't know/care.

No, it really doesn't suck. If it did I'd have it on all the time, using it.

Over a long period of time I don't think it's too positive for anyone. And it's mostly one side of the coin, the world isn't necessarily the way it is portrayed on TV...Take the mainstream news for example, how often do you see positive stories about communities being built, homeless people no longer hungry, etc, etc?? I like watching TV sometimes to get an different perspective than what I get from real life, to see how the illusion has developed.

I agree though, people are screwed up and it is fascinating to watch at times. The only problem is that I have enough drama in my life to think twice about watching some other people's drama on a screen. I tend to want to get a feeling of accomplishment than disgust.
