The media is full of actions that if where committed in real life would be extremely unacceptable, but the idea is to make the unacceptable acceptable. They are always pushing the boundaries.
Untill a few years ago I'd have considered myself a regular viewer, say 2 or 3 hours most nights. Now I'm very selective. If the TVs on its only because its showing something that I believe may interest me. What killed TV for me was the 'Freak Show'. That is; most 'Reality' TV that invite suckers to make fools of themselves for our "entertainment". Stuff like Big Brother, The X Factor, The Jeremy Kyle Show, Embarassing Bodies, ect. They con attention seekers & some pretty sad people to bare themselves as we look vicariously on,laughing & invited to judge at a comfortable distance. Like the Freak shows of the Victorian era, I find it disgusting that its come to this.
About the only thing television is, is a time waster. A well spent time waster, I find, because I love to get lost in the world of a show just as much as I do in the world of a good book.
i cant live without TV at all as it is impossible to imagine the life without it. the life would becoming too boring
I'm Sure I Have Posted In This Thread Before But I'm Not Going To Go Back Through 389 Posts To Find It. I Haven't Watched TV For Over 5 Years And I Couldn't If I Wanted To, About 18 Months Ago We Changed To Digital And None Of My Sets Will Receive A Digital Transmission.... Cheers Glen.
I have a tv, but I only used it for tv-games, but I sold my xbox because I never used it... So I'm thinking to get rid of the tv now.. haven't watched regular channels for years...
I still watch TV, but barely. 80% percent of it sucks now; crappy realities shows, crappy sitcoms, terrible music, and this sad obsession over celebrities(why should I care what's going on in their life?). Video games are the only reason I still own a TV.
I watch TV when I eat meals and when the big horse races come on. I`m not keen on TV for the most part, but a trip to the theater is nice on occasion.
I don't watch TV a lot. There's usually nothing good on, but if there is, the commercial breaks annoy me. Sometimes I download movies, burn them into a RW disc and watch them through the dvd player. Was without a tv for months when I first moved into my apartment. My only media outlets were the radio and the internet.
I'm about to the point of not watching it. I don't have a whole lot of time for it anyway. Sometimes I find I have it on just for empty noise because it is too easy to get into music and all of that. There isn't anything worth watching though and all that seems to come out of the news is lies and drama.
Today I thought about giving up tv, but then I saw Rocky & Bullwinkle was added on Netflix....so yeah.....not happening.
I like to watch television and try to micro analyse things to see if they are trying to teach any sort of lesson. If you look real hard some of them do teach something, but I have found a lot of stuff on tv doesn't now a days. Its why I prefer to watch documentaries and educational television, but now even the educational channels are not showing educational television...TLC the learning channel.....what does honey boo boo teach. I micro analysed it and can say that it teaches not to judge people to some extent. It seems they are a fun loving family....but still it has to be some of the stupidest shit on tv I have ever seen
