I am sure that some shows are educational. I love nature programs, but in general, I am tired of the constant assault on everything I cherish.

Let's say I decide to resist all the advise I hear on television and refuse to emulate any of the behavior I see on television. Would I still give in to some of it no matter how hard I try not to?

No tv signal here since they made the digital switch. Some movies, mostly documentaries-old westerns and such. People don't know what to say when we tell them we don't watch tv. My grandmother says "we NEED to have a sport to watch". No, I've got too much to do on the farm to need to watch somebody else do stuff lol

    Alternative things to watch:
Your friends' faces as you converse
The pages of a letter as you write to loved ones.
The pages of a book that is filled with important ideas.
Watching the fish in your tank swim around.
Looking at your garden out the window.
Do you have a squir..I mean bird feeder? watch these critters!
Your canvas as you paint (water color or oil, your choice).
    Sheet music while you play.
Does anyone know how to make really good shadow puppets? (all you need are two hands and a light bulb).
Watch your work bench as you try wood carving or basket weaving.
Do you have a potter's wheel? Fun to make, fun to watch!
Do you like cooking? If so, you better watch that saucepan over the flame!

tv is so useless though, especially in the age of the internet you can watch anything online on your own schedule. TV just seems restrictive and boring to me now

Yes and its quite strange you can watch ALOT OF STUFF ONLINE W/NO COMMERCIALS!!!!

Why is that? -- Dont they care? -- Why not let you do that on TV also where you are paying for service!! -- ONLINE your just visiting the website that offers the content FOR FREE without commercials.... (CBS - Law and order shows are 1 example)

    DOESNT SEEM FAIR!

I watched tv for the first time in about 3years last week and within 15minutes or so I couldn't watch anymore, the shows because they have their own conceptual views as to how things are 'supposedly' in the real world, what a bunch of rubbish. I can however watch Nat' Geo, Discovery, Animal Planet, History etc.
