Okay, I understand the importance of food stamps and welfare in times of need, but I also believe it should be a temporary option, not a permanent one.
See, that sounds extremist to me. It's funded the way it's always been funded, isn't it? How would you pay for it?
hows this for extremist, stop all funding to the united nations and any of their affiliated organizations, close all military bases in other countries and bring all military personnel home. that includes war zones. debt problem largely solved. unfortunately the democrats are no better than the republicans when it comes to those two issues so we will continue to wallow in the gluttonous overspending that both parties of our government participate in.
Okay, how is this for fair. Say my husband works in one city, yet we live in another. They will tax his income double. They take for the city in which he works in AND the city in which he resides. Now how does that seem fair? It's not! They're double taxing! And yes, it does double. We're not taking a few dollars and cents.
So these Tea Parties are protest against the increased spending/taxes on the rich. I assuming the parties are largely made up of right wingers?
well considering the rich largely benefited from the policies that got us in this hole, a 3% increase isn't that bad.
I don't think it's bad at all. We're talking about the marginal rate for the rich going from 35% to 39% while taxes go down for almost everyone else. Thank you, President Obama. I need the money. At 39%, the rate will still be 10% LESS than it was under Ronald Reagan, so why should I cry for the rich?
can you show us where our taxes have went down? surely your not speaking of the measly 13 bucks a week tax ADJUSTMENT,that you are still going to have to report as income at the end of the year are you?? we did not receive a tax cut we received a adjusted deduction that will still be considered income at the end of the yer. thats not to mention the dozens of other taxes proposed or implemented such as the new tobacco tax that went up 23 dollars a pound on loose leaf tobacco.. im pretty damn sure the rich dont smoke roll your owns.
No disrespect because I like you, but when you are supporting a family and see a big chunk of your earnings that could be used for your own family's basic needs (notice I say needs, not luxuries!) being taken away, and the government wanting more, more, and more, well, if you're not outraged, you're not paying attention! I realize that taxes are something that cannot be avoided, but what angers me is how everything left and right is being taxed, double taxed, and even triple taxed. I've seen it firsthand. Any way Uncle Sam can get his filthy hands on it, you better believe he will. We as a country are in debt because of many, many poorly made decisions.
The President yesterday went through the tax changes enacted just in these past few months, including: 1) The Making Work Pay credit for 95% of American families; 2) allowing small businesses to offset their losses during this downturn against the income they’ve earned over the last five years; 3) a $2,500 tax credit for all four years of college; 4) the $8,000 for credit for first-time home buyers. He also made clear that while the tax code is being made right, the federal government will also do its part to tighten its belt, reiterating that his Administration has identified two trillion dollars in deficit-reductions over the next decade: "That’s why we’re cutting programs that don’t work, contracts that aren’t fair, and spending that we don’t need."
WELL lets see, the "credit" will be counted as income and taxed at the end of the year,i dont own a small business,i have no kids going to college nor am i going,i already own a home. so what does that get me? paying 23 dollars more a pound for my tobacco. yep im seeing a net gain in my taxes so far..
It's get you to the same place I am, nowhere... only now it's a more expensive nowhere. The so called "credit", to me, seems like a scam to get more money out of. You get a little more on your paycheck, at the end of the year you have to claim it as income = more income for the government to tax you for. Wouldn't it be smarter to cut income tax and let the people who work hard for their money, keep it? It seems to me that would stimulate the economy... more money in American's pockets= more spending. Right? **Side rant** Also, I"m tired of politicians referring to us as tax-payers instead of Americans or citizens. We are more than a paycheck, I wish the government would see it that way.
what i was told by two different people who do payroll is that the tax bracket for your income did not change, you are simply getting 13 to 18 dollars less a week deducted from your paycheck and at the end of the year you will still be liable for the taxes on your gross income including that extra 13 to 18 bucks a week. does that make sense? its not a check this box and youll get extra like the EITC is.
