    There were two more which you posted!

    Dubh = Du = Black
    Linn = Llyn = Lake

    There is a similar situation in Wales with English place names cropping up for major towns or tourists attractions. It's a shame because often the original placename meaning is lost, or for the smaller places even Welsh speakers and indeed some maps are not aware of the original Welsh name!

    The Welsh language is grand!!!!

    I am just glad that I didn't have to learn it cos me mam is fluent in Welsh :)

    I can imagine it being rather difficult.. especially with the mutations but it is phonetic!

    I have a few friends in Wales, it's just that not many of them are Welsh, but the Welsh people I know will do anything to make you feel at home, so yeah, I like the Welsh,(I'm knew here, this is realy just an ice breaker), nice one about the language Hippie Girl, my friend Lou who lives down there is lerning it now.

    Just came back from wondering about on some of the hills. It's a beautiful sunny day with hardly a cloud in the sky, excellent visibility for miles and no wind and barely a sound can be heard. It's melting quite quickly now, but hardly at all on the shadowy side of hills. I had fun retracing my steps from Wednesday - my foot prints were the only ones so it was kind of easy! ;)
