Yeah, scientists are working on better ways man. For now though, we have pharms. Get it? I mean it's not like there's pharms *and* a magical cure in the next shop, and people are choosing pharms. All we have in this age is pharms, there's not much choice when it's a physiological problem.
I dont know a lot about other mental disorders, but after going out with a girl who had BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) for a while i do know that along with using medication therapists do teach the patients skills in dealing with life to make it easier to communicate and interact with people and to deal with their issues in order have a relatively normal life, however these skills take years for the patient to practice and gain control over so in the meantime, they are given pharms to help them deal with everything. It improves their quality of life until they can take full control. Life is still hard on them and the people around them but it is better than the alternative.
